1. What time period is the gold rush?

   I mean the California gold rush, of course. Which S-minted coins would you consider gold rush coins? Thx, JD

   Sutter's Mill, January 1848. The SF minted opened in 1854. I would consider any gold coins from the SF mint to be California gold rush coins, but I would also include the 1848 "CAL" quarter eagle, Philly and southern branch mint gold coins from 1849 through 1854, and a large number of private mint coins and assay coins to…

   I would consider any S mint coins from 1849-1858 to be gold rush coins.
