Re: THE ~ Never Ending ~ Indian Head Cent ~ Thread!

And then there were two: “2” meaning the # of coins needed to complete the 185 coin IHC Complete Variety set! The 1864-L S-2 is another one of those very rare ones. There is only one higher graded than this example, with another tied @ AU58. This coin has really nice eye appeal with the streaks of mint RD running through… -

This latest IHC is one of my greatest: Why “one of my greatest”: 1) the full natural RD color; 2) OGH (this one is nice for the grade. It’s actually nicer than 66+ & 67 RD’s I’ve seen); 3) clashing so common for this date/type is practically non existent on this coin; 4) full tips & clear diamonds - this date/type often… -

Another addition for my IHC Complete Variety Set: The 1903 S-7 is another obscure 2* variety of similar status to the 1901 S-19 posted above. Unlike the S-19, I already did have a S-7 (graded PCGS 62BN). This NEWP is much nicer & @ 64BN is the tied for highest graded (with 1 RB). It’s a very tough date with only 6 examples… -

Nice RD NEWP & a cool variety: While not officially designated yet, it is the 2* rated S-3 variety. Of note is the close proximity of the date to the rim. The “1” has pronounced doubling, with the “8” less so. There is a die chip on the neck. The “D” hub in UNITED is broken. Finally, there are horizontal die lines around… -

Still can’t stay away from RD’s, but this one’s special: The 1865 Plain 5 S-2 variety is extremely rare; this is the only RD example known & originally from the Dr. Tom Fore collection. There are multiple features: 1) remnants of all 4 digits of the date in the denticles below; 2) a clash mark running through the upper… -
Re: THE ~ Never Ending ~ Indian Head Cent ~ Thread!

Nice upgrade: TV too dark but I’ll post anyway: This was a post FUN buy; I was able to trade in my MS66 as a partial payment. This is the unusual S-6 variety aka the toothpick. There’s a die line emanating from the mouth that gives the appearance of either a toothpick, or the Indian with a strand of straw dangling from its… -
