I have two 1922-D cents. On this circulated coin, the 1 and 9 in the date are much bolder than the 2's. This one's a PCGS MS64RD in an OGH, purchased in Teletrade auction #322 on May 22, 1991 for $139.75. Those were the days! There's a small dark spot below the E in E Pluribus Unum, but it's still a great coin. -

This is actually one of my new DeLorey Varieties, Die Pair #Zero. It has the jogging die crack reverse later used on Die Pair #1, which is why I called it Die Pair #Zero to put it before Die Pair #1, and an obverse die amazingly similar to Die Pair #1, which is why nobody noticed that they were two different dies for 50+… -

They did make many fine coins that year. In my opinion that is why so many of the really well-worn die strikes are rare in high grade, because o collector of the 1920's would have kept a coin like this in their collection rather than one of the real horrible strikes from rotten dies. You know, the coins I love!
