Re: Win a Body Bagged Coin that is in Plastic.
The bad side of some of the cleaning that is if it's not done correctly, you may have a killer 67-69 coin but in a couple of years it can/may develop undesirable toning or milk spots. I feel that a coin should only be conserved to halt damage to a coin via carbon spotting, bad "doctoring" or PVC damage. I have seen some… -

Re: American Silver Eagle Collection Photo
Nice set. Too bad they're in the wrong holders! LOL Actually, I think the eagles look better in the white holders instaed of the clear ones. Does your set have spotted coins too? Or, is it just PCGS and raw coins? What I'm asking, is, maybe NGC knows about the milk spot problem and they dip the coins first? That would be… -
Re: I know nothing about PEACE dollars???
On the Peace$ one thing to look for is what I call milk spots or white spots streaks etc. Something to do with the way the planchets were prepared and or rinsed. Sometimes with these it's just a fact of life. That's one of the reasons you don't see big rainbow toned Peace$ like the Morgans. And why they bring big prices… -
Your Potion For Lightly Dipping Silver Proofs
Interested in the precise formulas you use to dip silver proofs, especially to remove haze, white/milk spots, or generally to prevent a nice proof from hazing, spotting, or otherwise turning in a holder. Please describe product (e.g. MS-70, e-Zest, Speedip) and the ratio (e.g. one part MS-70 to three parts distilled… -
LSU quarterback kicked off the team
In a terse e-mail that is devoid of details, Louisiana State informed sports media outlets today that quarterback Ryan Perrilloux has been dismissed from the defending national champions' football team. "Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team," a statement from coach Les Miles said. "In the… -
Re: CoinNews.Net: "US Mint Increases Prices on Silver Coins, Silver Sets and Silver Medals"

@PerryHall - Update on my 2019 American Liberty Silver Medal dilemma. After receiving permission to return if spotted, I decided to open five sealed boxes as a 33.33% sampling exercise. Very happy I did. Four of the five had milk spots, a couple of the obverses were atrocious. I am returning 14 of the 15. @cointime - Ken,… -
Re: Sent this PF70 in for spot check
I have noticed far fewer spots on ASE's in NGC holders. Most of them have been in PCGS holders. Maybe its a reaction of a planchet solvent with an ingredient in the plastic that PCGS uses? Or maybe my observations have been incorrect. I'm not slamming PCGS at all. I don't buy coins anymore unless they are in a PCGS holder,… -
Re: Crossover Epic Fail... 0 for 3 high-end coins
JA does not recognize Star or plus when verifying coins. That said I agree that PCGS may not like the '42 Walker for milk spots and some contact marks on high spots (NGC image is superb) but the Half Eagle is all there for me. Either way those Star coins are worth more in NGC holders for obvious reasons and crossover would…
