Warning about Facebook friend requests from people you don't know

Received a friend request on Facebook from Chuck Woodard Versace of El Paso, TX. I noticed he is already following my posts and those of several other US coin dealers (which is why I am posting this here) . While there is a handsome white man on the main Facebook page (LEFT) the album photos are of this guy (RIGHT) and… -
Re: Hesitant to buy raw coin question
When I first started back into collecting (some 20 years ago now) ebay was a decent source of material. One still had to be diligent but the sheer volume of scammers these days seems to have grown exponentially! I was buying raw coins off ebay as late as a year or two ago, but it had gotten to the point that I'd only buy… -
Re: WOT Help on Car purchase via eBay -- SCAM???

<< <i>In all seriousness, if you and/or your sister could not immediately tell this was a scam I would suggest avoiding making ANY purchases on CL and quite possibly avoid the Internet all together. I feel sorry for you and your sister...dumb and dumber! When someone clicks on the CL car link the first thing to comes up… -

Re: Pawn your Card Collection/Collectibles
A few quick comments. 1. The scammer to legit customer ratio with something such as this is going to be extremely high...and I do mean extremely high. While you probably won't get scammed, and presumably you know a diamond from a rhinestone, you're still gonna be wasting a lot of time entertaining scammers...and time is… -
Re: New scam (to me) using paypal update: was not paypal scam. Degraded to old fashioned wire scam.
Too funny! This is a variation on an old scam. Back in 1999, I sold a dirtbike. First I tried regular Auto Trader. That was the worst. One guy actually sent me a fake cashier's check from Nigeria via Fedex for 500% of the asking price. Then, I was to deposit the check and wire him the difference. HA! Interesting that the… -
Re: EBAY: I now leave positive feedback as soon as I receive payment. It puts the buyer at ease. Works
>> The eBay feedback system is a complete joke. In a brick and mortar world, a 90% rating would be exceptional. On eBay, 90% positive feedback is deplorable. It's become quite an all or nothing system--and it's neither fair nor honest. All this hostage crap, hostage negotiations, mutual withdrawls, terrified little bidiots… -

Re: 1877 Indian head please give opinion
Ouch. I'm no genius but I've learned to look for red flags. No phone or way to contact him is one flag. A 20x is not the best way to get a feel for the coin initially. You need more like a 5x to see the coin in totality to make a first assessment IMHO If you're serious about buying raw coins with high value, then you need… -
Re: FSH: 2000 1 oz. Gold American Eagle
The question is, why wont PCGS do anything when stuff like this happens? It's happening on their site, they can check IP addys when a new user is signing up to cross ref. if the same IP is being used that was a proven scammer. Do they do this or do we assume they do this? Both ID's in question were new users with low…
