Re: Are dealers and collectors slaves to APRs
<< <i> << <i>As the coin market shrinks the lower quality pieces will drop in value sharply while only the really choice material retains its value or increases in value. I have posted before that it is time for collectors to tighten their standards. From what I see being lauded on many posts on these boards it appears… -
Re: Pictures of 68-D Jefferson in 64FS POP 1 and my new 68-P MS67RD Lincoln
Oreville - It is an understatement that I got lucky on both coins and you can add the MS67 68-D Ken half and the 65FS 68-S to the list. I am sure the batch of Mint sets I purchased were the first stikes for the mint sets from brand new dies, hence the amazing coins I have from the collection. Anyone dedicated enough to buy… -
Re: A giveaway in honor of Frank and my 4000th post (The winner is RickMilauskas)
Back in 1992 while in Basic Training we were fortunate enough to have this guy PVT Jones in our Platoon. He was the one that helped everyone, listened to all our problems and just basically made the training easier. For seven weeks he was there for us all, not a complaint, not an argument, kind of like a big brother to us… -

<< <i>Dihydrogen oxide is scary >> Only if you can't swim and inhale while trying! Dihydrogen oxide is widely used as a fire extinguishment agent. But it can be fatal when experienced in sufficient quantities under unfortunate circumstances... In the most recent year for which statistics are available, 4,100 Americans—… -
Re: Here is my Flowing Hair Dollar - please tell me what you think
Thanks for replies. I've got no plans of it going anywhere. I sold a 2 leaves version a while back, so this is the last one I have. Writing the story down and keeping it with the coin is a great idea - thank you for that. My daughter never met my grandfather - so if she ends up interested in such things it will be cool to… -
Re: A Thread for Hockey Collectors

Nice job on the set so far coach. I don't know how you set builders do it.. It would drive me crazy finding 100+ nice cards to complete a presentable set. To further elaborate.. They were in an argument over money owed.. and then the argument carried over into who will pay the bar tab.. they took a cab back home together… -
Re: Local dealer won't let me examine coin before I buy :(
Busthalfcrazy, just in case you are being earnest, here's an overview: if you fall in love with a woman, do you pull out a magnifying glass to better examine her beauty??? Here is an overview: many graders who earn their living that way are near-sighted and can see a coin close-up, the equivalent of a 3 to 5X loupe for the… -
Re: " Does anyone know if Ken Potter is done counting trees..."
Hello Samuel !! Merry Christmas to you and your family !! I was told that the latest Coinage Magazine picks their choices of what coins will go up in value in the coming year (2007). The State Quarter Varieties and Errors were mentioned as well as a new book written by Alan Herbert of coin errors fame. This book is… -
Re: Does it really matter what the PCGS pop report says about finest known modern Crap ?
<< <i>There's a market out there of buyers who have more faith then brains. If they never find out the truth they'll stick around a little longer. But true collectors want markfree, fully struck posibly EDS modern coins! If the coin has a noticeable nick in any of the focal areas, it's not a 67 coin, given the fact it is…
