Idaho Falls Coin Show report.
This a little delayed but FWIW. The show was Mar 20 & 21. The crowd was lined up at the door prior to 10 am opening. It was non-stop for 6 hours. No time for a lunch break. Finally got a couple of hours to restock and have a snack then there was another rush that lasted for another two hours. Died down at 6 till it closed… -
Re: Yet another mankiller pic post?
. ya. the die simply had too much pressure, tilted, used too much etc. you can kinda narrow it down a bit with some experience, even on modern dies. if there isn't much die erosion, obvious metal flow lines etc, usually the die started falling apart too soon and could be caused by a few different things. the fact this one… -
Re: $65 to $80 is the new baseline for silver. What say you?

I think its 60-85. I just price it in my head as the 50 day moving average of SLV, the etf, SIVR is physical silver which is actually higher than spot. Silver wants to go up based on industrial demand and static supply. If bond interest rates rise, bonds end up being more desirable as a hedge, so gold and silver go down,… -
Re: A giveaway in honor of Frank and my 4000th post (The winner is RickMilauskas)
Back in 1992 while in Basic Training we were fortunate enough to have this guy PVT Jones in our Platoon. He was the one that helped everyone, listened to all our problems and just basically made the training easier. For seven weeks he was there for us all, not a complaint, not an argument, kind of like a big brother to us… -
Re: Pictures of 68-D Jefferson in 64FS POP 1 and my new 68-P MS67RD Lincoln
Oreville - It is an understatement that I got lucky on both coins and you can add the MS67 68-D Ken half and the 65FS 68-S to the list. I am sure the batch of Mint sets I purchased were the first stikes for the mint sets from brand new dies, hence the amazing coins I have from the collection. Anyone dedicated enough to buy… -
Re: Are dealers and collectors slaves to APRs
<< <i> << <i>As the coin market shrinks the lower quality pieces will drop in value sharply while only the really choice material retains its value or increases in value. I have posted before that it is time for collectors to tighten their standards. From what I see being lauded on many posts on these boards it appears… -

<< <i>Dihydrogen oxide is scary >> Only if you can't swim and inhale while trying! Dihydrogen oxide is widely used as a fire extinguishment agent. Re: Local dealer won't let me examine coin before I buy :(
Busthalfcrazy, just in case you are being earnest, here's an overview: if you fall in love with a woman, do you pull out a magnifying glass to better examine her beauty??? Here is an overview: many graders who earn their living that way are near-sighted and can see a coin close-up, the equivalent of a 3 to 5X loupe for the… -
Re: A Thread for Hockey Collectors

Nice job on the set so far coach. I don't know how you set builders do it.. It would drive me crazy finding 100+ nice cards to complete a presentable set. To further elaborate.. They were in an argument over money owed.. and then the argument carried over into who will pay the bar tab.. they took a cab back home together…
