Re: Selling on Ebay no longer worthwhile...
<< <i>Bochi states that Russ does well, but Russ is earning a commission from other's coins. I think that should be stated. There is far more risk of loss when a dealer has to maintain his own inventory than when he is representing someone else's. >> I've sold just under $30,000 of my own purchased coins so far this year,… -
Re: The final straw: eBay going to 100% electronic payments.
<< <i> << <i>Oh, and for those who think this ISN'T a bad move, this month alone I've deposited $4468.83 in checks and money orders. It will hurt anybody selling in the collectibles categories. Russ, NCNE >> Russ, I suspect you pointed this out to your eBay rep. Have they responded? >> Yep, I have a call in to him. Haven't… -
Re: A challenge to forum members - I challenge each of us to be better participants here, in whatever wa
I'm pretty new here but what the heck...it's time I took a "shot" at someone. Yes, we all know that Mark was referring to Russ and his harsh, unforgiving keyboard. Actually, I can't rip on Russ. I found him quite helpful by steering me in the right direction by helping me learn about Kennedy halves with accentuated hair.… -
Re: Heads up on an eBay image thief.
Hell, I didn't think I was the first one to spot it. I was sure Russ had already seen it. Russ usually finds these things way before anyone else does. I sent the seller an email (before I ever talked to Russ since the seller claims all of the coins look exactly like the picture) asking him for a picture of several of the… -
Re: For half cents, do Cohen and Breen numbers indicate that each system is imperfect, or fully compleme

"Although old timers such as MrHalfDime can't seem to let valentine go , sorry Steve!) I have been called much worse than 'old timer', although I much prefer the term 'experienced'. When Russ Logan and John McCloskey were researching the "Federal Half Dimes", I was taken on board as an editor and fact checker, making use… -
Re: It's about damned time I got a decent eBay score.

<< <i>Is this one an Accented Hair? This is your chances to lay in a guess before I get the coin in. That one WAS a shot in the dark. Russ, NCNE >> This one on the reverse looks like the rays are broken under the UNUM which (according to Russ's web site) would most likely indicate an AH. Sure is a togh call from those… -
Re: Hard To Buy Judging By Pictures On Ebay
<< <i> << <i>the coin and it had hairlines all over it, which didn't show up on the picture! Fortunately the seller is a stand-up guy >> If he were really a standup guy, he would have mentioned the hairlines in the auction description. Russ, NCNE >> Agreed, sometimes what they're 'not' saying can be worse than there… -
Re: Bust half offcenter
I don't much follow CBH errors, but this one is certainly worth a good premium for the amount of offcenter. The sad part is that the coins is in such a low grade. The coin may indeed be worth $1700 to an error collector, maybe more if two bidders really want it. Russ Logan would know immediately what this error is, and… -
Re: Is this PVC damage on this 1943 Lincoln Cent?

Weak! Russ is just playing with your heads! We could all stand a good laugh! Thanks Russ, I was a little down (don't know why) but I'm all better now. Laughter is good medicine!. I put mine up here once by sheer luck because I don't know how I did it! HEY where is that little "fru fru" icon-as you described it. The Kennedy… -
Re: Did I get a good buy for $20? Guess the grade.
<< <i> << <i>Let's see if DCAMfranklin and Russ will get into a brawl in this Frankie-related thread!! >> Eddie, I will no longer be doing that. I've just been provided some information about him that explains his difficulties, and I now know that he really can't help the way he is. My irritation has changed to sympathy…
