Exit Interview: I'm Retiring from Collecting Canseco
To say a lot has transpired over the past couple of weeks would be a vast understatement. To make a long story short, (trust me, the long story is below!) 1) I have decided to quit collecting Jose Canseco baseball cards (Video of the explanation is below). 2) I'm selling my collection (well, most of it, anyway.) 3) I'm… -

Re: Bring out the octopii, tip your caps and salute the Great Winged Wheel!!
<< <i>lane, good point about the team's consistency, but I think you have be fair about the sales situation. You're talking about a city in bankruptcy right now. Most times sales is a good arbiter of fandom, but I think there are extenuating circumstances here. I won't hold it against the people of Detroit if they aren't… -
Re: Raw purchases that turned out golden after grading.

This one was being used as a book marker in a Patricia Cronwell book I bought at a used book store ... the book cost $2.00. I know it's O/C, I'm happy with it. I know these are non-sports, but I bought the entire set for $5.00 from a man in the UK after my son and I were reading about the Seven Wonders of the World during… -
Re: Mal Graham - Boston Celtics 2-time champion - any information?
Joe ... here is what I was able to find for you. It came from doing a search on THE CELTICS website: Cross-Court Pass By Reagan Berube He did not have the typical rookie season. Forget about becoming acquainted with your coach, your teammates or learning a system of plays. For Mal Graham, rising before dawn, marching in… -
Re: Topps Presentation Baseball sets!
Back in 2006, I bought an ebay lot that contained 236 cards from a 1962 Topps Baseball presentation Set (2 of the special boxes too, if I recall correctly). I paid $873 for the lot. They had been "picked over" by the seller, but I pulled quite a few nice ones from the residual... 1 1 04604602 NEAR MINT 7 1962 TOPPS 398 DON… -
Re: If you were a coin dealer, what would you do if you caught someone stealing your coins at a show?
Thank you all for your replies (and warm welcomes). I am quite surprised at the attention this question got, and was entertained reading all the responses. If you want to keep reading, here's the full story on my thief. At the Bakersfield show, I watched this guy going through my lowerend coins in notebooks, he took out a… -
Re: 1992 bowman any thoughts?

I agree with every name you added there except for Ankiel. I personally do not totally rule him out yet, especially given his hitting prowess albeit in the minors. Shows a great eye and homerun power. If he can find the plate consistently as he did in the latter part of last year he can win 20 games surely. I agree though… -
Re: my 58/57 topps (2nd round poppage)

grades popped tonight, these are more from that 57/58 set I picked up last month so I thought I'd dig up this old thread. A few of the grades have me scratching my head but what can you do...overall I think I didn't do too bad. Not sure what happened with some of the 58 commons as I tried to be pretty picky. I thought they… -
Re: Any good coin shops in Reno?
Reno/Sparks/Carson Coin Shops Actually, Reno/Sparks/Carson/Tahoe/Virginia is a great coin/money/collectible type of place. There is both old and new money in town. Fast money and slow money. Silver and Gold are mined in Northern Nevada and find their way into the cities and ranches and mints and stores. Additionally, there…
