Other than milk spots which, even in an image are obviously permanent, other spotting really requires an in-hand look to decide what to do. The reference to the mild soap comes from the directions on the side of the jar of EZ-Est. "wash immediately with mild soap, then rinse thoroughly under water". It's too bad that NCS removed the original rim toning. If those are milk spots beyond the Y in LIBERTY and below the Bell on the reverse it might be tough to receive any grade above 64. Still has a shot at Cam, but it's still hard to tell with images. Good buy for $279 however. -
WTB: A Few Spotted Eagles!!
Looking to buy a few milk spotted silver eagles for spot removal testing. Need a couple in NGC and a couple in PCGS slabs. Yes, NCS conserves proof coins. Whether or not spots can be removed will depend on the nature of the spots. The mint-caused milk spotting that was fairly common on early '60's proofs is embedded in the planchet and is not removable without damage. Light water spotting or other minor spotting caused by post-mint… -

Some additions: Copper coins are graded BN when they are really Blue? God made milk spots? ANACS can't make a box of 20 slab box for the small white holder? Sports cards use a 10 point scale, but coins need a 42 point scale (all grades and pluses)?
