Everyone is a bit different and what you say sounds like a grade 2. My experience is about 3-6 months for full non-surgical recovery. Younger heals quicker. My caution. Don’t rush it. It took me 3 years of setbacks to get back to 100. What does his ortho say? The location and severity play a major part in the surgery… -

You may get lucky and have the dip remove the marks, but there is no guarantee. You could also be stuck with a coin that has cloudy, lusterless stripes. I have used something called Plastibands if I have to bundle coins in 2x2’s. They are plastic and I have never had an issue with those.
