Re: 1959 Franklin Proof in PCGSDCAM. Anyone seen one?
I have seen several. I held the 69dcam in my hand and had the opportunity to buy it for less than $10k. But it didn't look 'right' to me - it had the contrast, but the frost had a greyish tint to it - the frost doesn't look like any other dcam Franklin I have seen - some believe this coin is not genuine. In fact, both… -
Re: WOW! ASE's took a beating!

<< <i>Got Milk? >> LMAO. Indeed sir. Have they ever figured out what causes those darned milk spots? I haven't noticed any on my own coins, but have heard and seen plenty of horror stories. My guess is that it's silver oxidation caused by a chemical in the polymer that encases them? Then again, I'm no chemist.. -
Re: O.K. I purchased a vacuum sealer...
<<That is nice, but how in the world do you expect battle creek toning on these after going through all of that? >> I'm going for the white, spot free look, didn't want to risk leaving them in the OGP. Say no to "milk". Beside, I don't have much luck with toning, unless you consider a milked coin attractive. Scott -

Re: Are raw proof Franklins worth more than melt?
For the proof Franklins minted during 1950 - 1955, yes. For 1956-1959, maybe. For 1960-1963 not likely. My above answers presume that these coins are run of the mill coins lacking attributes that make them stand out (i.e., beautiful toning, an in demand variety, and/or CAM/DCAM). Of course if the spot price of silver… -

Re: Okay, maybe I am wrong, NGC only kind of sucks!

<< <i>On silver eagles does NGC pop out more 70's, the answer is yes but they grade a ton more coins. Now if you are strictly an ASE fan and collect them for just the pure pleasure of looking at them then that is great. If you buy all these ASE's as an investment and hunt down those 70's, Youll see in the future you made a… -
