Re: My Flying Dutchman Has Arrived...
Nick is right about provenance. While it is not so big in sports collecting, it is HUGE in coins and comics. I am one of those people that wonders where a collectible came from. When I find a 1942 penny in my change, I wonder where that penny has been and how many people have used it over the past seventy years. To be able… -
Re: Which is better for a seller?
Wow! Im baffled that you fail to understand the difference between buying an item from a random Ebay user who has NO KNOWLEDGE of what you may or may not own, and buying from a forum member who has SEEN much of what you own through threads and posts. Joe Schmoe on Ebay has no idea that I collect bullion when I buy a silver… -
Re: NGC Grading?

<< <i>Hammered? I have seen a lot of these with the reverse weakly struck. I think AU50. << <i>Hmmm .... methinks NGC can't grade hammered UK coins very well ... >> With a sample of One you can come to this conclusion? >> Firstly, that's not a "hammered" coin, it's milled. Here's a near full blazing red obverse of that… -

Re: 1924-S Peace $1 Edited to Add Question
I think your camera is fine. The close up photo says XF40/45. I agree with TonedPeaceNut. The contact marks on that coin are too scattered in too may places to call it AU. IE...high points -vs- field. If it was only played in a slot machine on the International Space Station, it would be a commercial AU. The toning looks… -
Re: Anyone go to the East Coast National?
I didnt notice any high grade 33 Goudeys, but Levi from 707 did have his entire inventory there with him, so if it's listed on his site, it was at the ECN. Overall the show was about the same as it has been in years past. A lot of memorabilia dealers this time and guys selling boxes and packs. There were a good amount of… -
Are 1978D peg leg Ikes common? *PICS ADDED*

I was at DefCon in Las Vegas recently and as usual I was hitting cash cages for Ikes (friend collects em in any condition). Over the few days I got 40 out of Hilton and noticed 26 of the 40 were abraded die peg leg types (yep kept em). The Ikes stood out because most I get out of casinos are milled in the slot machines,… -

What Do You Think This Walker Graded? Grade updated in first post

1941s with semi-prooflike fields and nice luster. Very good thumb detail/separation and sharp full skirt lines for this year and mint mark. I usually see the skirt lines only come up to below the knee. There are die-polish lines in the obverse fields, and a few very lite frost breaks/marks in field. The rest of the coin is… -
Re: Have you ever noticed ..... about the Registry?
I think of RICH as someone who is worth 10 million or more...I am certain that many of the top sets are NOT in that ownership, although some are. There are the sets, althogh rare these days thet young guys started in their 20's and have been at for 30 years. They have wold class sets for a number of reasons..they bought…
