Re: No one has picked this up?
<< <i>Hopefully if he is committing fraud he will get busted. I don't know the answers to any of the questions I was asked above. Honestly, I don't care about packs that much and have never bid on or owned one, tracked any or cared about any, nor do I see me starting to. I really don't have a lot more to say except maybe… -
Re: I've been "BAMBOOZELED" by a con artist
<< <i>How did you get charged back when you had proof of delivery.....that's really really scary! Send a coin, prove delivery and still not gte paid >> My guess is that he sent it without delivery confimation which can be tracked on-line. It was trackable in-house by the Post office so we know it got there, but Paypal will… -
Re: I wonder if ebay screwed me in reverse?
As far as can be determined, no listings are being taken down for offering to accept paper payments. On January 15, EBAY claims, such listings will be poofed. ............. Since EBAY claims that about 90% of payments are already PayPal, the change should not be a big deal. Sellers can still accept paper, IF the buyer… -
Re: Help needed to report counterfeit 1864-CC dollar to eBay
I report all fakes not listed as copy, no questions asked. I think it is very bad for the coin community as a whole to let less informed (usually new collectors) get burned by these scammers. Every time I see a fake on Ebay they always say the same stuff " genuine, bought at a coin shop, or I don't know much about coins"… -
Re: Scam Alert (Siren Sound) Scam Alert (Siren Sound) Scam Alert!
<< <i>If you look at the phoenetic spelling of the sellers name, it is Angler. Looks like he may be doing a bit of fishing. >> That's the first thing that caught my eye! He does a couple of regular sales and them tosses the big lure. This is a rip, I'd bet anything on it. The very nature of eBay's setup makes these kinds… -
Re: What are your numismatic predictions for 2006? (a contest!!)
Very interesting topic, thanks for coming up with it. Here are my guesses (I mean predictions): A federal court will determine that the 1933 Double Eagles may be legally owned by private individuals. A recently-found or put-away roll of gem 1901-S quarters will not be announced. eBay will make changes in the coin… -
Re: What to do with unopened proof sets
Aalready checked, resealed in almost undetectable modern packs and boxes, sell ! open em up, may be a half tricker in there. that's what keeps ya'll buying them like that no cameo or pr set dealer lets a single set pass his hands (short of being in the mint sealed shipping package itself) WITHOUT already having been… -
Re: A guys auction fighting against Bobby Orr RC fakes.
I must say, eBay has actually done a heck of a job controlling the 1952 Topps Mantle scams after a year of me running my guide. The scams are few and far between now because the vast majority are shut down quickly, that entire market is nearly dead. Only a few scam auctions ended as scheduled, although, I'm guessing those… -
Re: What to do with an unconfirmed address?
If he has good feedback, good paypal feedback (it will tell you the number of verified transactions he has had), I see no signs of a hijacked account and I don't have any bad vibes, I accept the payment and ship the coin. Many buyers don't want to verify their address for privacy reasons. If I have any concerns my next… -
Re: Autograph collection authentic? Cobb Wagner
Autographs like this are a tough racket - firstly, just like artists who can look at something and paint or draw it, there are a number of people out there who can look at a genuine autograph and write it somewhat accurately, and with some practice, it can be very accurate. Secondly, just because something is signed on old…
