Re: CRIMINAL Liability for SUBJECTIVE Grading!
This is a great citation. It puts the lie to a certain tenor of thought on these boards that grading is only an "opinion," and because scammers issue mere opinion, nothing can be done about fraudulent overgrading. I don't want to debate the point because it's such nonsense, but privately I saluted those responses that… -
Re: What would happen to coin market WITHOUT ebay?

Without eBay, those of us who do not live near coin shops, or even live in a city that does not have even minor coin shows would be sitting back saving our money. I am thankful eBay is there even if there are lots of scammers selling on it. eBay is like the 24-hour coin store. I rarely get to go to the FUN show and other… -
Re: field testing gold bars. Cut test showed gold but was fake.
Originally posted by: CaptHenway Who did the test cut? The crook may have just indented an area, pushing the gold plating down without breaking through it. Re: 1933 sports kings Thorpe real or fake
<< <i>What is stopping scumbag buyer from switching raw cards and claiming they were fake? >> Speaking only from personal experience, which is similar to this but not exactly the same, in disputed but ultimately unresolvable cases (ex: buyer claims fake, seller claims switched card) eBay/PayPal will eat the cost and issue… -
Re: Craigslist Newb Trusts me?

Sean got it thats your average response from the African scammers on many things posted for sale on CL. they will sometimes send a check for more than the amount and ask for change or they use stolen credit card numbers or bogus MOs that bounce, many ways. but they usually go for the smaller electronic like laptops etc.… -
Re: OT: (Sort of) e-Check from PayPal
<< <i>I had a buyer on eBay pay with an e-check and with an unconfirmed address. I asked him to get a confirmed address while the e-check was clearing. When the e-check cleared, I did not accept the payment and had him resend it to me with the confirmed address. The buyer was very understanding and it worked. >> I had the… -
Re: Poll: Who uses Delivery Confirmation and why?
To me the incremental cost of Delivery Confirmation is minimal, and I really do like to know that a person has received an item, or at least know that an item has been delivered. It might avoid the occasional scammer who claims to never have received an item. And, in a few cases with "newbie" EBAY people, I've been able to… -
Re: Scamming freak tries to sell fake plank on eBay
He went to great lengths to explain why it was real and 5 dealers agreed with him. But he wouldnt name any of the dealers because they would get too many phone calls. If he would have took the time to find out about the card and instead of the elaborate explaination it would have took him 10 seconds on line to find out it… -
Re: Anyone see the newly listed items on eBay this morning?
Actually, if you search for those two sellers, they are still there one on still has legitimate items for sale. This is something I've never seen before. I can't see the actual auctions because as soon as I click on them IE gives me the red "This is a reported phishing site" screen. But it looks like the scammers have been… -
Re: 1955 Proof set... original cello question

<< <i>I think it is original! Here's a pic of an original that I opened last year. The plastic is soft on the 55's. I am 100% sure that mine was untouched since 1955. I bought this from an old time customer that had several of each year from 1950 forward. The 55's were like this one shown. Note that the seam at the bottom…
