Re: Can you tell if a coin has been dipped?
ccr- Everybody knows that I'm super critical of coins, mine & everybody elses, but I wouldn't be so fast to condem your coin. I really don't see any traces of the dipping, at least from your pict anyway. The white spots are water spots and they are from poor planchet preping as is the milky haze you mention. I do see a… -
Re: 1936 PR66CAMs - MINE WAS DNC'd (update)
I should have named this thread the PHOTO SHOWDOWN. It's the next best thing to lining them up in person and comparing them to see which one is best. Maybe this could be a new way to compare top coins???? I know my scan is better, but . . . here are some things to look at: 1. The first NGC coin has serious haze/film on the… -
Re: galaxy's golf cards & memo

really no better time to post this flag. the PGA Tour offers up a valuable privilege for players who are in the top 50 on the career money list: they have a one-time exemption to play on the tour in the year of their choice. 62-year-old Vijay Singh -- who plays on the Champions (old guys) tour and hasn't played the PGA… -

Re: Are the unopened 1955 or 1954 worth the money on ebay
About fifteen years ago was buying unopened proof sets from 1950-1963. Was building a silver proof collection. Would occasionally get a cameo 1952-1954 and deep cam - low grade in the 1961-1963. The early sets had to fight with the staple's rust and poor seals. The later years somehow managed to combine deep cameo with… -
Re: What Would be a fair price to sell ? Silver eagle
The PCGS price guide changes depending on where you look. While it does show up in 2 places as $4500....on the month to month price history chart it shows at $3750. One would think this information should all be linked and therefore consistent. This appears to be the only ASE date in MS70 that shows up on the "major… -
Re: 1.5 million - Indian's, Wheat's, and Moderns! Great Grepke Indiana Penny Hoard!!!!!!!!
Guys, yes he will be taking some pennies to the bank but not Wheats and UNC rolls that he has.. I will try and answer some of these questions..as best that I can. (1) Average Circulated to him I think means less than Fine, readable and not junk per se. Remember this was his collection. (2) I asked him about the 'other'… -
Re: MS70 and blue copper test (V1)
I've done this with dozens of Lincolns. I feel like I can spot MS70 from a mile away. I've also tested using several coin cleaners, DD, sulfur diluted in water and heat. I considered doing a write-up so people could spot the tells of these methods, but some of these turn Lincolns into market acceptable coins that I've seen… -
Re: One Coin and I'm Rank #1
I held the top spot among the Everyman gold $3 collection for about two or three days before someone posted a collection with two coins. It was fun being for a brief moment in such a screwy name for a collection--just your average Joe's run-of-the-mill three dollar gold, nothing fancy. Fifty fours, seventy eights, the… -
Re: Doctoring – My Definition and Other Random Thoughts
I'm an Ike nut struggling with how best to define "market acceptible" toning. Dipping with reasonable skill is not an issue for me (read on). Most of the Ikes with ravishing toning that may look natural, are cooked by very clever "doctors" (IMHO) yet the market has and continues to buy the best of these creations. Those…
