Re: It's time to quietly fade away...................

<< <i> << <i>It's funny to hear people talk about how tough this forum is - I've always thought it was pretty tame. If you want to see tough go to one of the Yahoo stock boards. >> Or the Yankees/Red Sox baseball chat boards, where fans of each team go to the other board. It's a crash course in Flame 101. >> On my Yankees… -
Re: Newbie needs help

ok you two, Lucy and Russ.... Let me interject a little here for SloMo.... It's kind of a tradition ( I say kinda, cuz I'm new) here.... but Usually with an entry as you made with the thread title, the truth of the matter is: Russ would normally quip: FRESH MEAT ! However, you have eloquence in your writing and that may… -
Re: Ebay: No longer required to have slab photos

<< <i><< << That was changed a couple months ago to accomodate high volume moderns sellers. Makes sense. Russ, NCNE >> Makes sense? I don't know any high volume dealers in moderns that believe it makes sense to sell any coin without "any" photos? Who does that? >> Yes, it makes sense. Plenty of high volume dealers run… -
Re: Numismatic Signs of the Apocalypse

<< <i> << <i>2. One of our forum members sees a business opportunity and – with seed money invested by Russ – starts a grading company that takes significant market share from PCGS. >> somehow I like that one >> A great concept, but I question the capabilities of the purported partner and financing resource. I also suspect… -
Re: OT -- Who's got this nasty cold/flu?

BTW, I also haven't had a flu shot, or any type of vaccination, in almost 30 years. All the people I know who seem subject to regular colds and flu have. What does that say? Russ, NCNE Russ is a wise man. I can't believe how many people take flu shots and take anti-biotics and expect NOT to get those diseases. Think about… -
Re: For those with good cherrypicker stories-- how likely is it that you will actually keep the coin?

<< <i> << <i>Russ, you can't stop there. We need details, lots and lots of details >> Okay, but most people already know. I spotted an eBay auction with four proof sets, 1962, 1963, two 1964. This is what the two 1964 sets looked like: Contacted the seller and got an early auction close for $85.00 for the four sets. Sold… -
Re: Toned vs. White? Anaconda's opinion.
<< <i> << <i>I was an underbidder on that one and agree. There isn't another Kennedy like it. >> Come on, Pat, you were underbidder at $55, 16% of what Adrian paid for it. Even I might have paid that for it. Clearly you didn't think it was all that. Russ, NCNE >> Russ, Thanks for the research, but actually I placed a… -
Re: Why isn't silver at $30.00/ounce already?

The platform of $30/oz hasn't been realized yet due to the constraints established by Russ.....he hasn't sold yet so the market will remain at a low flux till the time of 37min past sale from Russ.....prices will then increase exponentially till a base market of $38.24/oz is established. Another excellent point! I tried to… -
Re: '64 Proof set - Pointed Tail 9? explain please
<< <i> << <i>PS: I think NGC has graded 4 in PF69UCAM, two of which originally came from me. Russ, NCNE >> and the other two came from me. All AH proof sets have pointed 9 dimes, But a pointed 9 dime also comes in non-AH sets. >> You and Russ need to get your stories straight.... Russ says: << <i>every pointed 9 set I've… -
Re: Is this Kennedy half dollar artificially toned?

Well, it looks like a lot more than the sand is "cooking" down there in Phoenix, AZ. Thanks rd5425 for the help. Though I couldn't make your 2nd link work. Russ' seller lists his auction location as THE DESERT. Rd5425's seller lists his auction location as PHX, AZ. Russ' seller lists his address in the payment instructions…
