Re: There's always one in the group...
I sell items sometimes on eBay, but haven't had paypal problems yet. I am curious why you wouldn't take credit card payment through paypal. Do scammers refuse the charges and cheat you out of the already shipped item? or is there a delay period before funds go into your account? Or does paypal take a higher fee out of it?… -
Re: A copy of c.o.a. for 99 silver set Fake??????
Anybody here recall the TV show Taxi? Danny Devito was the head weirdo and was a character called Louie. Louie was a scammer at heart and the bet he lost to a kid in the series was a classic. The iid bet that he copuld tell Loiis the score of all the World Series Games (Super Bowls) in the next 20 years before they even… -
Re: ALERT - Bad 1808 Bust Half on eBay - Seller response in thread
Well I can tell you I sold a bust half dollar that people just hated.... and because I did not want to listen to the opinion of one person who bought it and re listed it.. People thin I am a scammer... I can tell you right now I have 2 negative feedbacks and over 2000 positive.. I sell good coins... Sometimes there are… -
Re: eBay fees and thoughts
Yep. You went out on a limb and the limb broke. 12%. Plus the 12% is on shipping cost. Plus they haven't got sales tax correct. Plus when you run into a scammer , seller loses. Plus when the postal service messes up, they tell you to find another way to ship. Plus they outsource lack of customer service overseas and those… -
Re: SB, why not show a picture of the holder?
<< <i>I am reviewing the upcoming Stacks-Bowers Auction, they show the obverse & reverse, but they do not take a picture of the slab. If you can take 2 pictures why not 3. Allow for the buyer to make a more educated decision? >> Maybe because Stacks-Bowers is selling coins and not slabs? Just a thought. I mean, it's not… -
Re: Ebay Situation - Would you keep it or send it back
Yes I was amazed he would brag about it. I urged him to return it. Possibly conscience or a note from the seller (realizing the loss) will trigger a return. There are many stories in here about counterfeits or outright theft by scammers. But sometimes a dishonest act of opportunity will take place. I am going to call him… -
Re: 90% of problems with Ebay can be avoided by following one rule............
The 100+ feedback and 99.8 still need to be checked. There are accounts out there that have been inactive for months or years that are hijacked just for the very reason that makes the hijakcer/scammer look legit. Check how long it appears the seller has previously been inactive, the red flag may be waving. Also sample and… -
Re: My definition of sad!
This scammer has been selling Pro-Graded cards for quite a while now. The sad thing is that those who are naive and bid on these worthless cards, will give a seller like this a positive feedback when receiving the cards because of ignorance. The scam continues even if his current customers eventually find out that these… -
Re: Mechanical error or a fake?
<< <i>I hear ya, Bill, but most PSA 3 commons will fetch $80+, which is far less conspicuos than those cherry '52 Mantles that seem to keep popping up. >> Exactly! It's reverse psychology... The scammers figure people are looking more closely at the higher value/demand cards, so they start faking the lower value, but still… -
Re: Oh my..
Well, lets say this guy has 20 reprints that he does this to. Over a period of time, he averages 50 bucks a piece. This guy has just made an EASY cool 1000.00. I dont see why any scammer may not want to do this. 50 bucks a pop is 50 bucks a pop! If it goes more, than that's some good gravy. 1000 bucks would buy me a lot of…
