Re: Newbie with a few coin questions? Picture Added

<< <i>Hello, I have been watching this board for a few months and I have learned a great deal about coins. I just recently was given my grandfathers coin collection and I am currently inventoring and sorting through his coins. I think that coin collecting is something that I could really get into, but it is very expensive.… -
Re: Paypal phishing scam discovered

According to the scam, the phony email will take you to a website that looks exactly like Paypals website, and ask you to enter your paypal account information, including your credit card information. I'm not about give my credit card information to them again. If they want to shut me down, then have at it, but once the… -
Re: Are high quality copies acceptable for your collection?
I purchase "aftercasts", counterfeits. and downright fugly "copies" that I will use for instruction in the many ways scammers will go to make a buck. Hopefully the examples will alert potential collectors to the pitfalls of Goetz collecting...not that Goetz examples are swimming in forgeries, but there are certain medals… -
Re: Is the increasing complexity of the grading game damaging our hobby?
Those who bought fakes, cleaned, altered, or similar in the past from the scammers or ignorant sellers.....they wish grading would have come sooner. I am a believer in the current system. New collectors who run right out and buy raw coins usually get burned bad and leave because they "did not" buy graded coins. -
Re: overseas bidders - ebay question
I also agree with boopotts. I've shipped many times outside the U.S. with no problem, and bidders outside the U.S. tend to bid higher because their options are more limited. For anything $50 and under, it's worth it to me, especially if their FB is good. You can get burned just as easily by a scammer in the U.S., perhaps… -
Re: Need Advice
I would say if you put delivery confirmation on the items, then tell him tough "luck". He received the cards and the grades as you described them. If the holder is horrible, then maybe he has a point, otherwise tough "luck" once again. Don't let scammers pull these BS on ya. Did you put delivery confirmation on your… -
Re: Seller trying to defraud me on a bogus 1909-S coin
Send the lot,as it was when recieved, back.Be sure to get delivery confirmation so there can be no denying he got it back.File your claim with Paypal. You should do just fine.If this was anything other than a scam, the seller would have stepped up when made aware of his mistake(if it was a mistake and not intentional).I hate… -
Re: Question about ebay scams.
If you change something on your account, doesn't ebay send you a notification? Also I believe CC information is blanked out. Also if stuff was listed under his id, wouldn't he get a notice sent to him that an auction started? Maybe I'm giving the scammers too much credit, but that scam seems like a waste of time. -
Re: Question from eBay member.
Sorry. I must be vague tonight....the link I'm referring to is the bogus link to a bogus ebay page that he linked to the "Reply" button. In these scams you click on the button to reply to the bogus message and you're taken to a fake ebay login screen where you type your name and password into the scammers server and… -
Re: $15 PayPal Rebates thru March 31
<< <i>$15 PayPal Rebate on purchase of $30 or more! Includes Ebay purchases! >> Has anyone registered yet? I am a little leary about this as the link you provided is not a secure link. Your link is http://paypal.com not the secure https://paypal.com. paypal always deals with secure links. I would be careful with all the…
