Re: Ever win something on Ebay...
The title said one thing, the picture was another. They said the picture was correct, but my bid wasn't high enough. Asked the rep to reconsider, then I was called a scammer and dishonest (via email). I emailed someone much higher on their company totem pole and will wait to hear back from them before I do anything. -
Re: Need Advice: I just got an Unpaid eBay Dispute notice
<< <i>as long as paypal converts to us dollars(which they do) he has nothing to worry about. >> Not quite true. There are lots of dealers who won't accept PP from Canadians because packages sent north of the border cannot be tracked, so sellers feel vulnerable to scammers who could claim item not received. -
Re: This has become the off topic forum recently - please put a stop to it....
yes, i agree. we need to stick exclusively to threads about ebay scammers, phishing for paypal & ebay accounts, at vs nt threads, & of course the obligatory major dealers promoting their's & other dealer's coins. oh, & there's not enough whining about getting hosed after stupidly buying coins sight-unseen. Re: Whose registry set was this auction scan stolen from?
Reminds me of the way that super-scammer Toniscards used to describe his auctions. I haven't seen Toni lately on ebay although as usual he's got his website in "Italy" loaded with fake scans of cards for sale at one-half the prce the cards would really sell for on ebay. Maybe he switched over to Yahoo. -
Re: OK, I know I've been guilty of it myself...but...are coin collectors generally paranoid about gettin

<< <i>That's the great part of digital imaging. I don't have to have my collection at home to enjoy my coins. The great part of digital imaging is that you don't even have to own the coins to enjoy them. >> And as some scammers are proving with digital imaging you don't have to own them to sell them either.. -
Re: New BS Paypal Email!!!
Actually, that one (or variations of it) have been floating around for some time. While most of us are savvy enough to catch on to the fact they are scams, a percentage (estimates range from 2-5%) fall for it. When you figure these emails are sent in the tens of thousands, you can see how profitable it is to the scammers,… -

Re: Is he serious????
The auctions were finally removed but the seller remains. You know eBay should have NARUed the jerk. If eBay wanted to send a message out to scammers, they would have NARUed this guy and sought prosecution thru the local authorites. The guy acted with intent to commit fraud and grand larcerny but all that eBay did was… -
Re: 1993 Finest Box Bust (Again... SNAFU)
Unlike today's boxes that are sealed with adhesive, the Finest box is just shrinkwrapped... so, your concern crossed my mind, but the eBay seller (xgamingx) had lots of 90s unopened for auction with huge positive feedback numbers, so I felt safe in this transaction... but I bet there are some scammers out there selling… -
Re: Steel Pennies ? Can I sell them, and for what ?
I'm mostly interested in what to do with this 1944. I would think it has some collectors interest? This must have been faked in the 60s or very early 70s ? It's having a magnetic coating. It only shows copper on the edge and weighs 2.9 to 3.0. I'm guessing nickel/zinc? $? E/Bay ? Not Ebay... this can only go to a real…
