I would love to know a little more about the scientific life of a milk spot. The rinse that caused the milk spot to occur happened in 1964; 42 years ago. The coin was sealed in a proof set cello with no spotting for decades. The grading took place within the last 20 years but more likely within the last 10. So sealed in… -

It has to effect grade. Once eye appeal diminishes it will effect grade. Carbon spots which are probably mint related on Lincolns does effect grade in a negative way. Crack out your MS69 SAE with the now present milk spots, I bet it does not come back a 69 again. I have had 1 SAE that was stored in a humid environment, air… -

Please respond to my post on the bottom of page #1 of this thread... I dont think PCGS downgrades a coin because of milk spots??? If PCGS will not downgrade a coin for milk spots, then sending in your spotted coins will be a waste... they'll just send 'em back and say the grade has NOT changed. At least that 's the way it…
