Re: Olive Oil to the rescue, extra virgin, of course...........................
Mineral oil (the clear odorless kind) works better than olive oil. Olive oil can and will turn rancid. It can and will make copper coins darker. Mineral oil is more gentle. Mineral oil works best on copper coins. It can also remove light milky spots and streaking on silver coins as well. Best to use mineral oil in business… -
Re: Question about Legend's latest market report
Interesting that Legend doesn't like “dirty” gold. Which would make sense for say the $20 1907 High Relief PCGS CAC Wire Edge MS66-67 they are looking for....such as no copper spots or unsightly crust that takes away from the flash. But on their want list they also have a $10 1795 PCGS AU55-58 PCGS CAC and ALL BETTER GOLD-… -

Re: Fair Price for OBW Roll of 57, 58-P,D Lincolns?
I've bought a bunch of OBW rolls recently. Most are truly unopened, but some have obviously been opened, searched and "resealed" in an attempt to pass them off as unopened. You can spot these a mile away - one end is rolled tight, the other is loose and "flappy." This one is a fantastic roll: Truly Unopened Most rolls in… -

I'll be there Wednesday through Saturday: - introducing the speakers at the free seminars (Miles Standish, John and Nancy Wilson, Q. Re: USPS Registered Mail Package - FOUND!
Good news! The nice thing about registered there is ALWAYS someone who has responsibility...it still might get lost/stolen/ruined, but there will be a name to be accountable. I guess it just takes finding the right guy to put in the work to find the person...6 weeks and movement, I will bet you see it eventually (mine sat… -
Re: Opinions on MS-70 and other "cleaners"
I have used EZ-est for dipping coins with unsightly, too-black toning, with mixed results. It really depends on how set-in the toning, patina, or "skin" is. The more set it is, the harder it is to remove without leaving the coin with an unsightly, dull, "overdipped" look. That being said, sometimes an obviously-cleaned… -
Re: Dipping Coins.........
Here goes, prepare to duck.... MS70 is a somewhat alkaline detergent mix that works fast. Used gently, I have not had it damage a silver coin, though I've only used it on moderns. Either full strength or diluted 1:1, us a Q-tip and gently mesage both faces and the rim. Everything gets slippery so work over a soft surface.…
