Re: Time to dismantle the NFL?
<< <i>Offense is definitely juiced but you claimed it was "powerless". The Super Bowl showed, in no uncertain terms, that that is most definitely a false statement. >> Sort of like the Jordan rules when the great one played for the Bulls. Refs knew who the money man was and let him play. No different in the Super Bowl. -
Trouble in Hockeytown
A bad omen for the NHL in general? Sprinkle red roses over the grave. The myth of Hockeytown officially passed away Wednesday. Historians will mark the time of death at 7:44 p.m., at the conclusion of the first period, when at least a third of Joe Louis Arena sat empty on the evening of the regular-season opener with the… -
Re: plus or minus $55 Trillion
<< <i>I believe that without QE we would go into a deflation and most assets would fall in price including stocks, precious metals, real estate, etc. US Treasury bonds would be one of the few assets that would increase in price. In a deflation, asset prices fall, the purchasing power of cash increases. >> We had deflation… -
Re: Could the coin market get hotter next 5 years?
I would bet that the very upper end of the rare coin market will keep going higher. However, if the metals keep rising, oil keeps rising, and dollar keeps falling, I see the bread and butter coin market falling as well. There won't be enough disposable income for the average collector to buy coins. Keep accumulating gold… -
Re: How is the upcoming collapse in the U.S. Dollar going to affect prices of rare US coins?
You don't think that the falling home prices of the past few years have been worse than our normal inflation? Well, I was talking about overall inflation vs overall deflation. But if you want to discuss housing prices instead, OK, let's. To answer your question, I'd want to consider whether home prices were too high to… -
Re: When submitting bulk commons from 60s...

<< <i>I live in the Rocky Mountains and drive each and every day through the 13 mile Glenwood canyon back and forth to work. Each year on average 1-2 people are killed by falling Boulders in this canyon on I-70. So if a Boulder falls and crushes me and my Truck, it was my day to die. No control, just like PSA. >> Don't you… -
Conservation, Doctoring, Restoration, & Cleaning.
CONSERVE: To prevent decay, waste, or loss of. Where would we be today without conservation? What would have happened to all our historical artifacts? Where would the flag that flew during The Battle of Baltimore and was Francis Key Scott’’s inspiration for the Star Spangled Banner be today if not for conservation?… -
Re: Why do people like the $10 Indian better than the $5 Indian?
Pratt's sunk-relief was not an effective approach to coins. Further, William Bigelow's claims were entirely false, and directly led to the demise of the $2.50 in 1930. As for headdresses, those were a personal affectation of President Roosevelt. It was entirely inappropriate on Saint-Gaudens' Nike Erini (the actual female… -
Re: The Wolfson / DuPont 1854-S Half Eagle compared to the newly discovered piece.
There was and is no motivation for the owners to lie or withhold information. To baselessly insinuate otherwise is disingenuous to all concerned. You can have all the imaginings and speculations you wish, but none of them are facts. A final thought. Most of the material members have posted on the 1933 DE subject is false…
