Re: What happened to the 1958 cent thread?
]With that in mind, would those of you who have seen Stewart's example (including LMS himself) say that the coin is accurately graded as a 65RD? I would, without question. I saw it raw. To me it was your typical late 50's wheatcent in 65RD (aside from the amazing doubling), some obvious problems when you looked close but… -
Re: Proper use of E Z EST
To get haze off a proof, I would do a fast dip and then quickly rinse in clean cold water (maybe bottled water, to lessen the chance of some trace substance like sulfur causing any harm). Lay the coin on a paper towel to dry, and then turn it over, so that the moisture is absorbed from both sides. In my (limited)… -
Re: Warranty inquiry (coin quickly turned in holder) updated march 14
<< <i>It should be covered under PCGS's warranty and not something you need to pay for via their conservation service. You might want to call their customer service dept and see if's possible to have them perform a mild diluted dip as I don't think it could handle another full strength dip? I'd also inspect the rest of the… -
Re: Do you store your PCGS slabs in InteceptShield Holders...

Am I missing something here. The PCGS slabs are sealed. Theoretically you can take a dive into the ole pool with one in your hand and unless you have a defective slab the coin will be bone dry! I've never had any problems with my very expensive collection in the slabs kept in the PCGS boxes! I do however have one that I… -
Re: 4 proofs and a gold plated bicentennial in my 3rd half dollar box
Well I cleaned them before I read this but I did a little research first. I only soaked them in some water with mild soap and rinsed them with distilled water and let them air dry to remove the oils from the surface. The 2015 and 2008 look nearly flawless to my eye. The 1995 has some scratches and one spot that looks like… -
Re: I did it. I bought a Mantle signed ball!
Congrats on the great addition! It's hard to go wrong with an authentic Mick auto and the UDA authentication does carry a market premium to be certain. Why is it we can put a man on the moon, but cannot develop a baseball that doesn't brown or spot though? It actually gives older baseballs some character when evenly toned,… -
Re: How much fraud in edge lettering errors?

<< <i>I am just suspicious that a good amount of fraud is going on with the Presidential Dollar edge lettering errors. It seems to me that someone could fill in the letters for a smooth rim and a tallented engraver or machinist could create double lettering with the right equipment. Am I not trying to throw cold water on… -

WTB: OGH FB Merc Dimes
Looking to buy some PCGS OGH (From PCGS Rattler 1.0 to PCGS 5.0 slabs) FB Mercury Dimes for my collection, and I will consider buying coins not listed below if the price is right. Looking for nice, clean coins, don't want any coins with that white milk-like spots some Merc dimes get. Won't pay a premium for toning unless… -
