Re: Bullion Dealers & PayPal
<< <i> << <i>Why use PayPal over a CC? >> I like not having a CC balance, for one. And two, PayPal is mostly my play money. I also sell sports cards and memorabilia, so all my sales money goes into PayPal, which in turn, I use to buy things I want. On a side note, thanks for the Scottsdale Silver info. I did use them after… -

Re: Good way for my mom to get into Ebaying her coins?
As raw coins, they are not worth much more than bullion value which is what was their initial intent. She might seriously want to investigate Russ's recommendation first to get a ballpark figure. As stated earlier, the only coin with higher than bullion value would be the 1996 and those are subject to milk spotting just… -
Re: This coin has to be doctored! Its to new!!???
<< <i>I concur with ahooka454--it may well have been AT'ed in the holder. I presume those holders are probably easier to AT a coin because the plastic inner core has several large cut out areas, which should make it easier for a gas (or perhaps a liquid but I'd bet a gas) to get to the coin itself. I also concur that Pat,… -
Re: Ever buy a "blast white" coin, then look up its auction history....
Very good question. I was actually considering a similar one. I was curious if coins would continue to tone in slabs. They allow little or no air to the coin reducing the exposure to the elements that cause toning to begin with. The only hitch to this is I see milk spots developing like crazy on some modern Silver Eagles… -
Re: impossible to buy silver at actual spot+ prices right now. opinions?
edited to add: none of this is aimed directly at CaptHenway. he is playing the devil's advocate and giving us the dealer perspective. -------------------------------- i thought B&M stores had people walking in to sell silver on a daily basis? it is that silver people like me want to buy at current spot+. what you do with… -
Re: Are 1996 Silver Eagles Overpriced?
YES, they are, especially on Coinvault!!! LOL I know, I know. But I have it on right now just for laughs. They have the 1986-2007 Silver NGC MS 69 sets for ONLY $1399. They state that each of the 1996 and 2006-W coins are worth $499 EACH!!!! Are they're any takers of PCGS MS 69's at 1/2 that price? Didn't think so! How… -
Re: The ASE 20th Anniversary Set will sell for a premium after they are sold out from the U.S. Mint

<< <i> << <i>These sets will sell for at least $250.00 after they sell out from the mint. With a mintage of only 250,000 this makes the silver reverse proof the lowest mintage in the entire series followed by the 1993(393,224) and 1994(372,168) ASE 93 and 94 Proofs which now go raw from $140-$180. A Proof 70 for the 93 is… -
Re: Do you think dipping a coin is "doctoring"?
<< <i> << <i> Doctoring a coin does not automatically = bad. >> I disagree. I think in today's marketplace, the term 'doctoring' does imply an unethical and 'bad' practise towards coins. For that reason and the reason I stated above, I voted 'NO' to dipping being considered as doctoring. >> Doesn't NCS (NGC) and PCGS… -
Re: Garrett 1804 $1 to be sold
<< <i>Nice coin, but what is that green on the reverse: >> The green (correct me if I'm wrong Capt and TDN) is residue that seems probably to be caused by leather pouches in the distant past. It's not corrosive and can be gently nudged with a fingernail, soft rose thorn, acetone, etc. but -- since it's not PVC and to…
