Re: Mint PR: United States Mint Releases One-Ounce 2009 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin October 29th...

<< <i>Miles, I'm torn....will gold keep climbing? Then gotta buy now. I have all three years of Gold Proof Buffs...would love to have the 4th year......dang!!!! >> I hear ya Bully! When I bought the 2006 at $800 I watched Gold drop below the issue and current spot price of that Buffalo (ouch); but, I and many others, see… -
Re: So--is there going to be a first strike anniversary set????

They won't be available from the US Mint but I am sure enterprising bulk submitting dealers will create some holdered sets. If they are going to be all together, they'll have to be in NGC plastic. They are the only ones with the cool jumbo multi-coin slabs, and they also subscribe to some sort of Early Shipped™...Umm I… -
Re: QUESTION ABOUT DIPPING COINS
Cleaning, Dipping, whatever you want to call it. Just be prepared for the worst if you take a chance. The only time I would do anything would be to remove hazing of milk spots from a proof coin as an earlier post mentioned. I personally like toned coins so if you get a high grade ugly coin and clean it, then there is no… -
Re: I never knew DCAM Frankie's were so cheap.

<< <i>I mentioned this coin last week in the What's the most you've lost on a coin thread because I didn't have a good feeling about it, and I was right. 1963 50c PR67DCAM It's a pop 235/192 - sold yesterday for at 16% price guide of $375 for $61 (I bought it last year for $185). Ouch Nice rip >> That coin is not even… -

Re: You want to know what is stupid?
Just a few points that I would like to make and then I will be quiet. Collect whatever coins you want, slabbed, unslabbed or out of your pocket its ok. Pick a dealer that carries the type of coins you like in the grades you like. Pick dealers with whom you can have a friendly and professional relationship with. Always sell… -
Re: How a circulated Walker
<< <i> << <i>I can't look at a circulated Walker without thinking of trips to the corner market as a kid. >> Ditto, that was lotta dough back in my younger days. On another note, does anyone here bid on items from an ebay seller who like this seller doesn't take returns? >> At what dollar value does a no return policy… -
Re: NGC VS. PCGS
Reputable TPGs bestowing a 70 was a bad idea IMO. But the genii is out of the bottle and there's little hope of turning back. If not for the milk spots, I doubt there would have been any move to damage control either. It is a risky premium game that I personally doubt will play out as a good investment into the future. If… -
Re: Have any of you dealers been stuck with a coin for over a year?
Often time the key to getting the best price for an item is patience. Given, it is necessary to wholesale widgets but certain coins are worth the wait. A couple years ago we had a 1895 dollar in PCGS PR63 that we were asking strong money for. We had it for well over a year before we finally sold it. The thing is, as Julian… -
Re: Also, this was in another set I just bought.
VERY nice catch on the Kennedy. It sort of revives you when you get a ping instead of a clunk. Just like when you tap glass. The leaded/more valueable has a ping when you tap it with your finger. Ask Russ about "preserving" in before submitting. The mint had a rinse of some sort that seems, at least to me, to be more…
