Re: 2009 Bowman Sterling Mike Trout rookie auto - Help needed
I'd have to agree with HGL- a "10" is definitely out because of the surface. Because of the surface imperfections you are looking at a "9" or an "8". If I had that card in my hand and wanted to keep it I'd have PSA grade it hoping for a "9". If the "8" came back then I'd probably crack it out and send it to BGS. BGS will… -
Re: Now That The Series Is Just About "Closed", Does Anyone Want To Talk About Gold Spouse Coins
If you are not a fan of Gold Spouse coins, I understand. But, please don't participate in this thread. This thread is intended for a serious discussion on the series from those out there that love or enjoy the coins (and, in particular, the PCGS graded coins). Comments like "I don't like the hags" have no place here. They… -
Re: Commentary on Graded Stamps
Whoa Hoa!!!!! I just went to your site and clicked on your featured stamp. Yipes? A PSE graded 70 Norse-American. Just absolutely gorgeous. And welcome to the Stamp Forum. On just a quick count we have had 3 dealers...including you...join in the past week. It's getting better folks! The days of members who frequent other… -
Re: Poll: Luster, Strike, Marks and Toning what is most important to you?
They are all important. They are sometimes but not always inter-related. Lusterless coin get downgraded. I love luster on MS coins and it defines the grade on circulated coins. Toning if attractive adds to eye appeal and market value (at least until recently). If dark and original few want them ( Kaufman excepted). I am… -
Re: NEWP 1938 Proof Walker

Originally posted by: coinlieutenant I'll be patient. Just went and looked through the registry sets of proof walkers for the top four or so. What contrast in presentation and quality of the coins. I am sure part is the photography, but there are some high grade coins in some of the sets that are ghastly. I don't care if… -

Re: 1947 Bond Bread Ted William's
Submitting to SGC today. I'm going to test the waters with just one card, just in case it does happen to not be authentic. > @dontippet said: I've seen a some graded examples on Ebay before, although, theres not many. Most on Ebay are hit and miss. Many are clearly counterfeit cards, especially those graded by FGA. Gonna… -
Re: Ethics question

It is a nice gesture to enlighten the seller and I don't think it would be unethical to so. After all, grading is subjective. Disagreeing and outing the seller is optional but not a fiduciary duty if it isn't violating the HPA. And the seller clearly is fishing for someone to believe his "description". Buy it and then… -
Re: Anyone know this tidbit about Pujols?
A man amongst boys? You're only talking a few years if the age "lie" is true. Genetics plays a huge role in this, don't fault him for it. My son is in 3rd grade, He weighs in at 140 lbs and wears a size 10 in mens.He plays football and wrestles. At his age that's equivalent to a 6'7 285 lineman. He's already being… -
Is the quality of the Heritage offerings getting a little low?
I've been looking at the Morgan dollars Hertiage is offering on their site and on EBay and it seems the quality of the pieces is pretty low. A few months back, they had a much higher quality list to choose from. Two months ago, I picked up three very nice ones, with one that may upgrade. But now, most of the recent…
