Anyone else surprised that the 3 coin SAE 20th Ann. set isn't sold out yet?
I'm not a buyer (I won't let another milk spot spoil one more SAE for me ) but I've followed the threads about the set and I am really surprised it hasn't sold out yet. Even with the news about the UNC W being made available seperately, I would have thought the reverse proof alone would have driven this to a sell out by… -
Re: Congratulations to gold - New all time highs! $5600+!!!
The risk is not being able to find a party that will agree to the price you want. Why is that so hard for you to understand? So drive 50 or 100 miles, pay $20 for parking, spend 3 hours walking from table to table negotiating a price 5-20% back of spot is your idea of liquidity? That's an all day endeavor....and you may… -
Re: Poll - Returning a lot of items to the mint - Is it good or bad for the hobby?
I think if you get a premium product (read a 68 - 70 graded coin) then you should not be returning it to get an absolutely perfect coin. I also think that those that order multiple sets with the absolute intention of going through them to return anything but a perfect coin is doing a major disservice by increasing the… -
Re: solutions to moisture when burying pms?
PMs are in part PMs because they are inert, or mostly so. Under just about any conditions I can think of, gold is virtually impervious to environment. Silver may tarnish a little but is largely unaffected by environment as well. If you've got paper COAs, receipts, packaging, etc., then you're out of luck. And if you're… -
Re: dónde está glicker?
It would probably be easier explaining some of Dallas's baseball geek stats to a Cricket fan but here goes Owner of a new 150k coin/ knowingly over graded/ wrong plastic/ a spot/ no sticker/ legendary collector/ owner of a 10 million dollar coin or was it/ shock and awe jump bid/ eccentric foe with an ax to grind/… -
Re: American Eagle Silver Dollar Question?

I agree. Go with raw. Also, start blast white and make sure they don't have milk spots. If you decide to start going toned, you will likely pay a little more. I would also add the "W" bullion coins (just how I do it since we have 2 sets of the raw SAEs) as I think they below with the "normal" uncs. Gotta say, I like the… -
Re: If given the choice, would you be buying 69's or 70's?
Strictly speaking on moderns, IMO, 70's are only good for the registry game! If you're looking for a really nice example of a coin for collectibility purposes, then save yourself some money and buy the 69's. Probably the one exception is the 2003 MS70 Lincoln. For Silver Eagles, your MS70 or PR70 could literally be eaten… -
Re: 2006 20th anniversary set prices
<< So what would a full set of 20th anniversary/First Strike labeled coins with original mint box/papers bring? (all PCGS MS/PR 69) >> The original mint packaging is worth the most right now if you have a bunch of coins in ms/pr68 holders. In that case I'd crackem and sell them as mint sets BEFORE the coins milk spot. If… -
Re: Time the wave! 95W Price crest!
It is very unusual to see a 10 year old coin that is a modern stopper. More and more people are drawn into the SAE collecting mode as the series gets longer and if you want a complete set...you just have to have the '95 W. With the milk spot problem though, I wouldn't have one. The one's other than the '95W that I have are… -
Re: So Russ (actually anyone else too), you think there will ever be a 1964 AH Kennedy in PCGS PR69CAM o

The Accented Hair is very tough even in PR69 brilliant. Only three have been graded in the last 15 months. These coins are plagued by hairlining and milk spots. Add to that the shield pitting that is so common, and the 69 grade becomes lofty indeed. Now, compound that by the very long odds of finding a true two sided cameo…
