If it makes you feel any better, he went to prison for 27 months. Re: Do Dealers really pay so little attention to their coins at shows ?
Guys, nothing to get worked up about. he is a thief. Maybe a professional thief. When I worked loss prevention for a chain of departmnt stores, we used to get all types of thiefs. The senator who was a cleptomaniac, (she was great, just follow her around discretely, write down what she stole and submit it to her husband… -

Re: Top Ten Reasons Why Card Grading May Ruin The Hobby?
For those who do not want to get attacked to death by the Network 54 pop-up ads, here ya go: Reason #10: They will over-inflate the prices of vintage cards. Reason #9: Only the richest of rich dealers or auction houses will eventually control the marketplace. Reason #8: They create a false sense of value. (i.e. If it's… -
Three certificate strip of Cheerios COA's, one with a dollar coin, two without, sells on eBay

This three-piece strip just closed on eBay at $4650. As far as I can tell the dollar in the strip did not have the die marker on the obverse. Just wanted to show posterity how the dollar coins were distributed at random into cereal boxes. A long strip with mostly just cents would occasionally have a dollar and a cent in… -
Re: Abby's GACC September 2024 Show Report
Honestly, given how the show over promised and under delivered, if it was me I'd be asking for a 100% credit toward a future show. Otherwise, again if it was me, the money I paid for this show would be the last money Larry would ever see from me. Paying full price for a World table and being thrown in the back with the… -
Re: What could happen in 2024, that didn't happen in 2023, that would push silver to $30+

This is an interesting graph, but correlation is not always indicative of causation. The multi-decade downdraft in 10-year rates that popped with inflation the past couple years could generate a false signal with this ratio for a while longer. Not convinced that inflation is going away with massive borrowing in the works… -
The ever changing standard

How often does the grading standard change with the top TPG's and why? It seems to me that a good percentage early coinage that found its way into slabs over the last 20-30 years, would not slab today. Why such a drastic change? Is it because younger graders come in, or do TPG's keep tightening standards trying to stay… -
Re: Looking for predictions. At what price will the 20th anniversary peak and....
The "cabal" of dealers and collectors you speak of are your everyman B&M shop, vest pocket dealers, in the know collectors across the country, etc. That's thousands or tens of thousands of dealers/sharp collectors who have them. That comes to lots of $$. I've always said that dealers are collectors and support the market… -
Re: 4SC- Go to work on this card!
<< <i> << <i>No it will not hurt the values at all going forward. The more PSA 10's that enter the market will only drive the prices of them up and up >> This flies in the face of supply and demand. Price is a function of supply and demand, if supply goes up and demand stays static then prices will fall. If supplies go up…
