Re: Amazing ebay and the 1909 SVDB
Read the comments. About every 5th roll has an 09-S VDB, a 14-D, some 22 plains, etc. Rolls from 1953 often have a 55 Doubled die. Donate your money to someone on the FEMA list instead of getting a greedy scammer richer. The only "pig in a poke" on ebay that I ever bought, and I bought, IIRC, 7 lots, of a "coin shop" being… -
Re: PSA profit margins going forward
<< <i> << <i>CU is very clearly the best of the best in coins and cards. They do a lot right and provide a quality service. However, complacency in those areas could backfire. As good as they are, there are many areas that could use some improvement. I think the biggest trap successful companies can fall into is over… -
Re: Fraud prevention in internet sales
STOP Just this kinda thing they go after. Its not so much even the topic of the orginal offer or email, but to feel out a Mark, and see if they'll flirt w diaster. With each information exchange, the Mark gives more info and goes further down the hole, until its to late. It's very easy from the exchange for the scammer to… -
Re: 1959 Topps Aaron from Pack
The top edge is DEFINITELY TRIMMED. The cut on the remaining three edges are uniformly straight. The cut on the top edge is not uniformly straight and was not cut in a (single) action. Even without magnification I can see at least four very suttle changes in the cutting angle. Just because Gai authenticated the pak we… -
Re: OT eBay changes... IDIOTS!
This is the one draw back to capitalism. In our economy we strive to be the biggest and best company but greed usually gets the best of us. Ebay, like most companies, has gotten too big for it's "britches". Once this happen quality control goes out the window. Ebay is more concerned with money rather than keeping quality… -
Re: 1959 Topps baseball - official PSA thread
Jim..... You have received some great advice. There is no doubt that you were the recipient of an ebay scam. I have heard about others getting the second chance offers, even some of the buyers from me have contacted me because they were getting second chance offers (which I did not send). The scammers are getting more… -
Re: Classic Don West to fall asleep to
<< <i>did don west and goldin get shut down??? >> SAH fired Don West in 2001 citing the "new direction" the company was taking. Since that time, rating have fallen, and the sports and collectibles show was reduced from 5 nights per week to 2 nights per week. And I believe a couple years ago the network went bellyup and… -
Re: UPDATE: Buyer wants out of their coin purchase
<< <i>I initiated the transfer of his payment to my bank account this morning before he changed his mind. Is there any way PayPal will let me refund payment after transferring funds? >> Yes, I believe there is no problem here. Just click on the PayPal transaction and look for the refund link. Refund all but $25. PayPal… -
Re: How are your eBay coin sales doing?
<< <i>It depends on what is being sold. Here's my take as I sell rather frequently A few weeks ago, I recieved back a nice selection of early type coins from PCGS including some 1855 half cents, three cents LC and early Draped half. They did very well on e-bay ! However, the Morgans did not, but I expected that. Recently,… -
Re: The darkest time in the coin collecting world...
dorkkarl - Could you expand on your comment, please? I am a 4 month board lurker (this is my first post), and have learned a lot more in the last 4 months than I expected, but this topic is very interesting and I hadn't seen it addressed quite like this until today. I first started to collect in 1978 at the age of 9, and…
