Re: Fair Market Purchase Price For A 2000-P Sacagawea Cheerios Dollar ANACS MS63?
The listing I linked ended July 4th, so it would still fall under “not listed anywhere” for sale. On the other hand, it didn’t appear to be listed by a “non-professional collector”, so I won’t try to make a case for that qualification.😉 Regardless, I thought it might be helpful to show the listing, as there can’t be too… -
Re: If you could get a custom safe, what would you want????

How about a wall safe that you can open if at gun point where you keep a handful of V nickels or something of no value. If nobody's got a gun to your head, you just reach in and up, pull a concealed handle, and the floor opens up to reveal your vault where the real valuables are. If that doesn't work, I'd settle for a… -
Re: revisiting the issue of shill bids
<< <i>If you read item 11 on Hertage's Terms and Conditions web page you will find the following which answers the question Lava posed regarding bids one increment below the reserve. ***IF THERE IS AN UNMET RESERVE BID POSTED ON A LOT, THE CURRENT BID DISPLAYED ONLINE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE SET AT ONE INCREMENT BELOW THE… -
Re: silver breaking down?
So why has silver dropped 20%+ since this was announced? I don't really know, but I will think about it. Silver reacts differently than gold, in terms of the economy and that being the case - if stocks are up, it should also mean that it is anticipated that business activity will pick up as well, correct? That being the… -
Re: How about some suggestions for a constructive YN program for our coin club....
The kids at my local club like the annual bingo game and monthly raffle. So in that vein, I suggest some kind of games. I saw a coin shuffle board game, possible for younger kids. Coin oriented Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit kind of questions might work for older kids. True false kind of questions might be okay for any age… -
Grading question: Uncirculated coins without strike/color designations
Could a BN coin with a hammered strike and virtually no blemishes, but lacking in luster, ever make MS69? What about a Mercury dime with booming luster and virtually no blemishes, but which falls short of full bands? (I know one has, but it was extremely close to FB) A BN coin can only have so much luster, and a coin… -
Using your knowledge to make a fair profit vs. outright deception: where's the line drawn?
If someone walks into a coin shop with a rare data shield nickel, for instance, and the dealer (knowing that the coin is worth hundreds of dollars) says "well... for common date shield nickels in this grade, I pay $25," giving the seller the impression that the coin's worth only $25, that's dishonest, isn't it? On the… -
Re: Bust dimes
I have two bust dimes. If I buy one more, I'll have to buy them all. Having an addictive personality means that I don't get on slippery slopes, I fall off cliffs. There has been a recent buying opportunity through W. David Perkins of the Jim Matthews collection. See the link below of all those images, photographed by Steve… -
Re: Are These Two Monster Toned Peace Dollars the Same Coin?
>> Certainly, if a coin doctor buys a coin for $40 cooks it up and sells it on E-Bay for $55 - there is not a lot of harm done. Worst case someone is out of a few bucks once they come to the realization the coin is AT and misrepresented. In most legal circles this would be dismissed as frivolous and not worth everyone's… -
Re: Legal question about Freedom of Speech on the forum and the threat of lawsuits
We are dealing with libel with the written word. If you are a public figure -- so deemed by your position or your own quest for the spotlight -- it requires a "knowing and reckless disregard of the truth" to prevail. That is, you knew what you were saying was false and you "published" it regardless. That is a very high…
