Re: For sellers: Is PayPal worth it?
<< <i>But I heard that paypal now has a new rule so a buyer can argue that items were not as described---I wonder how that works. Maybe some sellers here can share their experiences. >> When a buyer files a claim that an item is "not as described," PayPal does not do a chargeback. To the contrary, their position is that it… -
Re: Hey YOU, next time you're about to make fun of someone, why not try to help them instead?

In an effort to get this thread back on track, here is a very recent example....... This Ebay listing link to listing of "1895" Morgan Dollar was recently discussed here. It might very well be a scam - the initial images were fuzzy, bidder's identities are being kept private, the coin is uncertified, most Proof 1895… -
Re: Legal advice
the answer is simple...YOU didn't pay for insurance.....you lose!!! Who in their right mind wouldn't pay extra for insurance when sending a check??? You're only protecting yourself.... As for him proving he sent it.....YOU did nothing to ensure that he would get extra services...he doesn't have to prove anything... I know… -
Re: Would you risk this or run?
I see that the coin has been spotted elsewhere. Run away. There is an old cliche in numismatics: there is no Santa Claus. If a coin is being offered at $1000 below fair market something is going on. These are the most likely scenarios: a) a stolen coin. b) a fake slab c) a total scam, and there is no coin at all, just… -

Re: EBAY Pulled my 25th Anniversary listing
<< <i> << <i>The worse part, is any scammer can sell as many pictures of the 25th anniversary as they want--so a guy sells 100 sets he never had, never intended to have and just skips away into the night--so, in the best interest, i also think this is a very good idea for Ebay--it protects many more than it ends up… -
Re: Hesitant to buy raw coin question
When I first started back into collecting (some 20 years ago now) ebay was a decent source of material. One still had to be diligent but the sheer volume of scammers these days seems to have grown exponentially! I was buying raw coins off ebay as late as a year or two ago, but it had gotten to the point that I'd only buy… -
Re: When commenting on coins we see in auctions, on web sites, etc., what obligation do we owe to seller
Mark, To the dismay of many ebay bashers, I have come to the defense of the accused on many occasions. Many times they turned out to indeed be scammers but this is America and I wasn't willing to convict them without at least looking at the facts. On other occasions they have turned out to be innocent. Sometimes we never… -
Warning about Facebook friend requests from people you don't know

Received a friend request on Facebook from Chuck Woodard Versace of El Paso, TX. I noticed he is already following my posts and those of several other US coin dealers (which is why I am posting this here) . While there is a handsome white man on the main Facebook page (LEFT) the album photos are of this guy (RIGHT) and… -
