Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
here's the good and bad. bad - opc cards from 60's 70's 80's really low grade on most. about 5 or 6 much lower than i thought. good - 1976 rose 8.5, 1976 rose opc 7 - pop 1 (none higher), 1975 brett 7 (iwas hoping for a 6.5, but i had no idea it would get a 7, centering is stout), 1994 mattingly finest refractor 9 - pop… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
I’ve had 81 orders to PSA this year, the questionable grades started in June for me. The last 2 I received were better but I still had serious questions on several. I have only 1 left at PSA and can’t submit anymore for the time being. Have cracked out dozens and sent to SGC with an average upgrade of 1.61 grades. Like… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
Doesn't this seen odd and possibly intentional? On both submissions all of the cards you figured would be valued higher are not and your expected lower value appears higher. If there is intention then it's quite a simple and profitable strategy if you're a grader and looking to buy and re-grade to flip. Let's not assume… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
Well, my first ever sub to SGC just popped. Just 9 cards total to test. It included 4 crackouts from PSA, 3 that I thought were grossly misgraded. Turns out, I was right. Card 1 First is my 89 Hoops Jordan AS that PSA gave a EX 5 grade. I thought that it just couldn't be and I could not find any problem with the card,… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
Again, that’s totally cool if you think they’re graded properly. By the way, I didn’t post the Mays card. And I’ll quickly reiterate that I thought these cards were off by about 1, not 6 grades. Still, I did not believe the cards would be coming back in the Poor, Fair and Good holders, respectively. Below is the written… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
But each flaw isn't a -1 in grade, let alone -2 grades. If a card has a crease and the highest it could obtain is a PSA3, then having rounded corners doesn't drop the grade. It's still a 3. If there are also light scratches, again, you don't drop it a grade. It's still a 3. If the centering is 90/10, yup, still a 3. And in… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
In my opinion, these Mantles are correctly graded. The eye appeal is so nice on all of them, BUT there are issues that totally makes sense. The 1960 Mantle has the stronger corners out of all four examples. While the corners pass the test for a higher grade, I can't tell if there is damage to the card on the right side.… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
In college, in the summers over 20 years ago, I used to grade standardized exam essays. They would give everyone an example of what was a 1 through what was a 5 which was the best one could get. Grading so many of them you sometimes lose your way and it was always impprtant to come back and level set and look at those… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
I'm 100% with you on this. If surface issues like that are docking a card 3 points then how in the world do you justify that? It makes absolutely no sense when you look at some vintage with worn/rounded corners, O/C or other wear? By that kind of scale a card would have to go into negative territory, or a 1 would be a… -
Re: Crackout Results... PSA to SGC
Makes sense to protect themselves, saying "THIS is how we received your card at PSA before we even touched it". But they have to make First View scans available to us, even after they slab it and ship it. I received my order in the mail yesterday and 1 card has a corner ding, and of course a much lower grade than I…
