Re: Question for you folks Down Under
<< <i>Brissy appears to be a one-post wonder when it comes to Collectors Universe. >> Sorry guys, I lost the link to this forum. Just rediscovered it. If you have any questions about 1981 Australian decimal coins struck at the Royal Australian Mint (Canberra), Royal Mint (Llanstriant), Royal Canadian Mint (Winnipeg) or… -
Re: The 1992/94 UD Mantle/Griffey Jr AUTO'd cards...
I'm just going to say this and drop it. When you come on and post the following: "1. The Mantle Griffey came as 3 different versions. 1 version signed by Mantle, 1 version signed by Griffey, and 1 version signed by both Mantle and Griffey. There is not an unsigned version of this card. 2. These were inserts into 1994 Upper… -
Re: Sand
I'm not sure if it can handle wet salt sand or not. That's tricky. I never have been able to get my Garretts to work properly on the beach, even with a low sensitivity setting, but have seen other folks with similar models doing okay. My old White's TR unit from the early 1980s sure couldn't handle it. But then again, I… -

Gettysburg Show Report September 2025
The Fall Show was held September 11-13 and was a huge success! I met several board members. The attendance was over 1,000 and those who attended were there to both buy and sell. Individuals were bringing in silver and gold in coin and bullion form to sell. I have not seen people bringing in silver and gold in this quantity… -
Re: Warren Buffet would definitely NOT be a buyer of gold coins
<< <i> << <i> I consider gold an "insurance" on my investment portfolio, much as I have homeowner's insurance on my house. A quick look at history shows that owning gold in hard times can indeed help feed one's family. >> Insurance against what? When was the last time that gold was the primary means to feed ones family?… -
Re: Anyone up for some Roosie Talk? - Thread #1
Nick. I agree with some of what you are saying, but not everything. The 48-d just sold at the right price in my view, especially when you consider a far tougher 48-p is only about a $500-$600 coin in the same grade and so much harder in pop top 68FB. The price was simply a little high in the Guide on the 48-d in ms67+FB.… -
Re: on The Chemistry of Silver: Toning, the Thin-Film Interference Phenomenon and Rainbow Colors, Cleani
Here's my contribution. "Imagine the tiny sulfur atoms and compounds falling, tumbling down the surface of a tilted coin underneath them, each one piling atop the others before it like snow falling on your windshield, and as each particle settles on the coin's surface, it bonds to a silver atom, or to the silver compound…
