Re: I got sniped by Lucy!!!!!!!

I've put some thought into this, and I think I've come up with a plausable theory. Picture this: Bad Dip It's early afternoon, December 31st. Russ sits hunched over his desk. He tries to keep his mind on his work. He's preparing his latest acquisition of AH's for submission. A large bowl of "Russ's Secret Dipping Solution"… -
Re: Super Slab from almost 60 years ago!
Very interesting, but probably not the first 'slab'. Several years ago Russ Logan wrote an article in the John Reich Journal (official quarterly publication of the John Reich Collectors Society) about a Massachusetts glass blower from the mid nineteenth century named Thomas Cains. It seems that Mr. Cains not only produced… -

Re: Which auction house to use?
<< <i><< None of the above. Russ, NCNE >> So what would you suggest, Russ? >> Well, I was really only referring to my collection. Only a couple of my coins are valuable enough to consider a "big" house, and those would be sold with a couple PM's to collectors to whom I've granted right of first refusal. The others would do… -
Re: Is this anything l?
Those are extremely poor guesses, unless you're intentionally trying to confuse the OP. The US Mint uses dies VERY quickly. It's basically impossible for a modern die to exhibit rust, or need retooling because of rust. It looks like a crack and quacks like a crack. Minor die cracks are extremely common. There's no reason… -
Re: Local auctions and coins

I knew Russ would be asking...I was afraid of this and, I can't even be mean to Russ cuz I won one of his auctions (my birthyear kennedy) and I haven't received (nor even paid for ) it yet.... Russ....IM me and I may tell you ...but, you have deeper pockets and more knowledge You will hog them all and I would get nothing -

<< <i> << <i><< In this case it sounds like it was poorly packaged and the would decline to pay the insurance. >> Where did you get that?
