Advise: Buy SAE's 4 or 5 years after they've been slabbed if you're going to insist on slabbed coins. The facts are if they're gonna spot, usually the first couple of years is key. Has anyone heard anything new on the "milk spotting" problem on PCGS certified SAE's?
I went to a coin show today and showed my "damaged" set around and everyone was amazed. (40% of my ms69 registry set has turned in the slabs in the last year or so ). Some thought my experience was isolated but I tried to explain that it is more common than they'd think. Some questioned the environment I store them in.… -

"very faint, barely visible milky shadows" are very light milk spots - not dark like the one on the OPs coin. Such milk spots should be no different than light toning that is not ugly or distracting. Therefore a coin with milk spots could (should?) still be MS70...unless milk spots are being viewed like scratches/damage,… -

David, The milky white spot problem is widespread on PCGS MS69 silver eagles. Take a look at this 1994 ASE. It looks fine when viewed head-on but if you tilt it slightly, it is simply covered with white spots. Hardly worthy of the MS69 grade... I have been dealing in MS69 silver eagles since the early days and am 100%… -
