Re: Monterrey, Mexico Show Report

Following up with the final days and thoughts to close out the thread. The second day (Friday), I had many tire kickers, but only one paying customer. But he made my show. He purchased many premium sets that I brought, which made my return home much lighter. We generally call Friday "Black Friday" because it is so dead.… -

Re: OH MY MY MY, bought a Gennie! The BIG TUNA Gold Dollar ***1856 D***

Genuine holders provide a great way to get a great coin at a great price. Without the problem that coin would be a minimum ten thousand dollar coin. Given the location, why isn’t the WESPEX show a bigger draw than it currently is?
The WESPEX show is held four times a year in Westchester County, NY. I’ve been to the show a few times, and it is great. However, I would classify it as a strong regional show, and not nearly in the category of a “major”. There is a ton of money in that area-- Westchester County, NY, the “Gold Coast” in Connecticut (where… -
Re: What happens when a fiat currency is no longer backed by anything?
During the war of 1812 (southern banks only 1812-1821), Civil War period (1861-1879), WW1 (1914-1919), and great depression, all represent times when the banks/govt determined a need to come off an effective gold standard. The fiat bugs will say that the 1792-1906 period was full of recessions and depressions and therefore… -
