Re: 2020 Baseball HOF Vote
I suggest you look up the definitions of "average" and "decent". You're telling me the AVERAGE major leaguer plays 2800 games? No. The average career is 5.6 seasons. One in five play exactly one season. "Decent" players don't win Gold Gloves and lead the league in doubles. Saying Walker averaged 111 hits in Montreal is… -
Re: 1986 Fleer Basketball - High Grade Question
I recall that based on their placement on the sheet, cards in multiple of 11 are the toughest. According to Daniel Chang, Vice President of Teddy's Ballgame, collectors will pay major premiums for low population, centered examples. "The cards that seem to be affected the most were 1, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99,… -

Re: 1933 World's Fair elongated question
The standard references for elongateds is Yesterday's Elongateds by Martin and Dow. The Fan Dancer elongate is ILL-CPIE-111, listed as a rarity of 4 on a scale of 1-6. To give you some idea of the scale, there are 112 elongateds listed from the 1933 Worlds Fair, and 20 are rated as a rarity of 4, while 9 are rated with a… -
Re: Needing checklists for 2010 Bowman Chrome
The reason why I need the checklist for all three is because I am missing checklist #3. I know the vetern players are numbered 1-180 followed by rookies 181-220 and then on checklist #2 it has BCP#111-220 however I have some BDP, some BDPPs and some of the USA cards. I don't know if these were issued in the set and can be… -
Re: Best single season starting rotations
1954 Cleveland Indians: Bob Feller 13-3. Mike Garcia 19-8. Art Houtteman 15-7. Bob Lemon 23-7. Early Wynn 23-11. Certainly there will be discussion, especially since the Indians lost the WS in four games that season, but the numbers posted by the five primary starting pitchers are hard to ignore Also, consider that the… -

Re: Congrats Ichiro!
With all of Ichiro's hits...he still has a lower lifetime OB% than Adam Dunn! That should put into perspective the foolishness of using his career hit totals as such a big measurement of his batting ability. His lifetime OPS is 111. He was a good hitter, not an all time elite hitter. Sorry folks. Yes, he got the most hits… -
Re: Interesting that Jeter only ranks 87th in WAR all time.
1. Jeter is NOT a top 20 all-time offensive player. Not even close to it. 2. The overall WAR metric isn't very good. The positional adjustments and fielding measurements are akin to voodoo! Even the offensive portion isn't as accurate as other offensive measurements out there. 3. The main problem with with WAR is that they…
