You are probably correct. However when I added the 10kt gold acid test solution on my test pad it did not dissolve at all. I checked some fake jewelry as well it dissolved them immediately (View Post)2 -

The silver is there but wearing off where the gold is showing through. That's why I tested it (View Post)1 -
