Luster is caused by metal flow. A weakly struck coin, which didn't completely fill the recesses of the die(s), should still exhibit full luster. Jefferson Nickels are a prime example since many dates… (View Post)1 -

--- A weakly struck Mint State coin will show luster over the entire coin. --- A lightly circulated coin will show luster breaks in the areas where "rub" from circulation is present. (View Post)4 -
