    IMO this is a generational buying opportunity for numismatic gold for this very reason. You’re getting the numismatic value for basically free. I wouldn’t even consider buying bullion at spot when I can buy historic numismatic gold for the same price, in some cases, literal key dates, at their melt price. Im not someone who buys much gold for the personal collection given how far that same amount of money can go when applied elsewhere but I for damn sure am right now,.. and this is exactly the type of stuff Im targeting. If it used to price 80% numismatic and 20% gold but is now pricing at 100% gold, there’s deep value there.

    Much of the numismatic value of the ten dollar Canadian denomination was wiped out with the 2013 release of the Canadian Bank Hoard. These coins have relatively low initial mintages and were withheld from circulation, which caused them to be downright scarce for a while. However, they were still extant and merely held out of the market, but the release in 2013 was far more than the demand.

    The above is true for the five dollar Canadian denomination as well.

    By the way, I love these coins, so I'm not hating on them at all.

    Yes, I've always liked the Canadian silver halves. It may have the best looking Reverse of all "modern" coinage. I've had many but let a bunch go when silver peaked.
