    Snagged a 1938 proof set in a Capital holder on EBay this month. All 5 coins are gorgeous, including a possible Cameo half.

    Very happy with the purchase.

    Also snagged a 1956 proof set containing a Type 1 half that graded PF66CAM.

    eBay has backed me as buyer or seller in five cases in twenty-five years, and I remain in personal and numismatic communication with some buyers and sellers from eBay.
    In one of my disputes with an early teen over a cracked A-pillar on a Hot Wheel, I convinced him, with avunicularity, that his missing the crack in my photos was his mistake and that he would be more of a man when he owned his mistakes, and sucked them up. He dropped the dispute. I sent him one that was better, gratis. I helped him through his Spanish classes. I no longer have to list die cast vehicles because he buys them all twenty years later.
    A few of the coin sellers that I carry on with are successful bank box resellers who continue to profit despite the complaints that I read.
    The camaraderie I have found weighs equal to the trade of coins.

    I’m positive eBay is getting worse for sellers. Keeping my funds for up to 90 days. They take longer getting me my money than PCGS takes grading my coins.

    As a seller, eBay has been outstanding!!! I think the fees are quite fair. When comparing to an auction house my listings on a buy it now / best offer are something I can control. Price it higher or lower, my choice. Can’t have that control at an auction house.. I have had 846 sales and not a single problem in a year and half.
    The scope and variety of my customers is something I could never achieve without eBay. I sell a wide variety of us, foreign and medals. Typical price is 100 to 500 dollars is my sweet spot . Avg 198.00.
    I just don’t understand the negative comments about this sales venue. eBay has been a game changer for my business!

    I'm ignoring all you curmudgeons who just can't help yourselves.

    One of my favorite eBay stories is my "friend", Rajni. She was living in her homeland of Bhutan when I first met her around 2000. She was selling coins and paper money on eBay. Since my main area of interest is Tibetan coins and she had access to many, we became acquainted. She sent me HUNDREDS of Tibetan coins and paper money over a number of years.

    She also sold me a custom tangka painting of Green Tara that was done by a Buddhist monk who was living with her. It still hangs in my living room.

    Eventually, she moved to the US and currently lives in NYC. Ironically, when she moved to NYC, her pricing became NYC pricing and I bought less from her. LOL.

    I’m not complaining. I’m pointing out some pitfalls , policy changes, and areas that limit the positive experiences I’ve enjoyed for 25 years , there. This new policy is not positive. So, instead of just saying how wonderful a venue is, people should know the whole truth. That 8 grand… or 12 grand on hold represents my working capital, too. I actually need it for the B&M …for buying. I never left for tic toc or instagram or whatnot, though Ive tried one of them , too. I stuck with eBay. I’m still with eBay.

    Just last night I spent an hour talking to a new collector of Walking Liberty Halves. He was disappointed in the worn coins I sent. But he asked for early dates. When he realized that he actually got a $60 coin for $22, he thanked me for the education on grades, populations, etc. it was positive. However. With all the good stories, the policy changes are continuous and not always a benefit for the whole, only the half.

    I can get paid from eBay when my coins have been accepted by the post office. This is before they are even delivered ! I choose to get paid once a week. Don’t understand why your payments are held up.

    Often it is based on pattern of usage, although I've never had a hold of more than a few days. For example, my payments normally clear after 24-48 hours. However, since I sold like $30,000 in the last two weeks, which was unusually high for me, they have extended the hold.

    AS a buyer/seller of sports cards, I love the Authenticity Guarantee program paired with the PSA Vault option (card I buy is shipped for Authenticity and then stored in the PSA Vault). One of the best things about the PSA Vault is how easy it is to sell a card with just a few clicks of the mouse. PSA handles creating the eBay listing, packaging, shipping, and payment (via Stripe/ACH Direct deposit). And the cost for all of that? I end up paying less in selling fees than if I sold the item myself on eBay (my normal buy/sell range of cards is $1K to $6K).

    I absolutely love ebay. Been on it since 1999. Have bought and sold there with limited negative experiences, and acquired some rarities in the raw.

    MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

    I went to the John Deere dealership for a new exhaust manifold and radiator for a John Deere 2510 tractor (late 60’s model). They told me that the radiator and exhaust manifold were obsolete and they wouldn’t be able to find it easily. I searched the part numbers on eBay. Found both parts and replaced them. Got the tractor going again. Saved me hundreds of dollars, maybe a couple thousand , since I did the labor myself.
    Not coin related but I also get car parts (some) on eBay too. As a buyer , eBay is good.
    As to selling coins ? I’ve got a few more rolls of the 1776-2026 Jefferson Declaration of Independence quarter with privy marks that buyers are actively bidding on every hour. Practically a bourse floor.
