The future of coin shows is up to Mother Nature- and i’t’s not bright !

‘The fabulous- - in all aspects - January Orlando FUN show just barely made it by less than 3 weeks due to the massive, impassable ice snow storm ranging from Texas to New England right now. Driving unthinkable, with most flights cancelled.

This extreme weather pattern , due to global warming ( not withstanding our Presidential denial ) , will become more and more prevalent and widespread , endangering planned future numismatic events and attendance.

One big question is if the winter weather is like this, will the summer weather conversely be intolerably hot ?

this could have happened 50 years ago

this storm could have happened 3 weeks earlier. to get down to it - what are fun's plans if the half the dealers are snowed in?

As a former tournament chess player, the world could be collapsing and chess players would be focused on their games; the same thing applies to this hobby.

During COVID, Dr. Fauci told us that the output projections from models are only as good as the data input (i.e., what we might view as garbage in, garbage out) to explain some mismatch with reality. The same is true with climate modeling. But beyond that, Fauci's position seemed to assume that the models themselves were perfect. If given good input data, they'd provide good predictions (of disease spread, deaths, etc.). Having a Ph.D. in astronomy, I know a little about how this stuff works. The models are never as good as scientists and politicians and other big mouths would have us believe. That's not to say that there isn't a good faith effort by some to make the best models they can. It's just that history tells us that the models (good input or not) simply can't be trusted to direct how we overhaul our individual and corporate lives. I plan to continue enjoying coin shows and trips to the beach.

I have never heard anyone ask that. You may be the first.
