Fake PCGS labels and coins
Does PCGS have a fraud dept or is this something for the FBI? Local law enforcement won’t do more than take a report. But I have the sellers info as well as the evidence. Fortunately it was only 8 coins. Could have been worse. What should be my next steps?

As widespread as this problem appears to be, I doubt that you’ll be able to get help from PCGS or the FBI. I would have thought that local law enforcement would be a much better option. But sometimes you have to get lucky in finding a willing and helpful detective. I’d recommend checking with an attorney, as well.

Fortunately paid by PayPal. So I have the seller’s info from two different individuals. Met thru the National and did business later.

I’ve already got the attorney going. I was just curious if PCGS wants the labels because these look really good. Yeah if it was local they would be all over it. Outta state, nope.

Yes I got refunded on two of the four deals but I’m going after the individuals. If they are guilty, God help them. If they got suckered and then resold, God help them!!

an you do not crack those slabs open? it will hurt the evidentiary value

Yes, I made several connections but the cell # I have for one individual (no longer good) was probably a burner. I’m a retired professional skiptracer.

yeah fake, plus the barcode scans to a 2023 MS70 Gold Eagle First Strike
if it has nfc you shouldn't buy it if the chip scan doesn't work
as you can guess the medal is obviously counterfeit too

if you have coins you can try the secret service
The Secret Service has primary jurisdiction to investigate threats against Secret Service protectees as well as financial crimes, which include counterfeiting of U.S. currency or other U.S. Government obligations; forgery or theft of U.S. Treasury checks, bonds or other securities; credit card fraud; telecommunications fraud; computer fraud, identify fraud and certain other crimes affecting federally insured financial institutions.

you need quite a few hundred dollars worth before most law enforcement would get interested

No just description of coins and that they were PCGS. I know about doctored sports cards but didn’t know it was as prevalent in the coin industry. Lesson learned.

etsy, whatnot, ebay, facebook marketplace and any other site you can think of has tons of counterfeits in counterfeit holders
there are way, way more counterfeits not in holders
its tough to get sites to act anymore
pcgs knows of the problem and took action on one place like 15 years ago. it's a flood and is monumentally difficult to go after the creators
at the very least you have theft by deception
if you got coins, perhaps you've got uttering counterfeits. the silver one you showed is a medal, not coin
