Submitting Proof American Eagles

I have about 70 American Silver Eagles in OGP with COA that I have accumulated over many years at an average cost of about $40. If I want to submit them for grading, do I have to put them in flips or can I submit the plastic holder they come in from the mint? Thanks for any help you can offer!

    They can be submitted in the plastic holder from the mint. ;)

    Just curious, if you submit a coin in its original mint capsule, does the mint return the capsule to you?

    Yep, you can send them in the original plastic holders from the mint. Grading companies like PCGS and NGC will accept them that way, as long as the holders are in good condition. Just make sure to check the submission guidelines for any extra details.

    I asked one of the second grade services to return the plastic capsules and they did.

    If you request the OGP to be returned, there may be a fee/charge. Check with customer service on the possible fee.

    Hello All,

    As others have mentioned, OGP and capsules can be returned if requested on the submission form at no additional cost. If not requested, the items may be discarded. While we have a good record of returning these items upon request and will do our best to do so, we also cannot guarantee this request can always be accommodated.

    For GSA hoard coins that are graded and encapsulated in the original holder, these do require an oversized holder, thus the additional fee for the oversized holder. You can check out details on this here and here.
