1910 Franklin ONE CENT U.S. POST Stamp Pencil marks

I'm approximating that this stamp is close to 1910. The stamp is in nice condition and pretty vibrant color. It is written on with pencil on it. Suggestions? I'm sure an eraser. But any idea on the best choice? Instead of just going to town on it with a typical pencil eraser. So many to choose from. Rubber, vinyl, gum, putty, foam, silica, etc. Just wonder if anything has worked for anyone else before I try?

    Forget about trying to save it. You will only make it look worse.

    Thank you. I was thinking that it might make it worse as well. Darn kids and their pencils.
