    A surprisingly large number of Half Dimes have brought six figures.
    The only Three Cent Silver I can think of is the unique (for both date and type) 1851 Proof. I was privileged to have been able to place it with a collector/client many years ago, while it was still a five figure coin.

    We need smaller slabs not bigger.

    I crack all medals out of those NGC cheese cutting board sized slabs as they take up too much space in my safety deposit boxes.

    I agree. I always liked the old small sized ANACS slabs. At the time they could hold every US coin with the exception of the large Pan-Pac Expo $50 gold slugs which the vast majority of collectors will never be able to buy. Their width was 2" so they could be stored in boxes designed to store flips.

    ...I just had a “rare”ities slab of Delmonico Steak and there wasn’t anything mini about it...it also wasn’t free, but now it’s time for an aged Punch 48 and an Adam Sandler movie ;)

    I think the holders look way too big, even with a big coin in there. I have a feeling these won't be used very often.

    If I read correctly this new'free' holder option is only available if people pay $300 +1% per coin to submit, so in my opinion it's essentially a non-event for most everyone here and probably >95% of all coin submissions.

    So it sounds like the only way to get a coin into one of these is by using the highest tier grading. I'd like to get one but not at $300, so I guess no circulated 3CS in a giant holder for me :(

    "The new holder is available as an option for any coins submitted under the Rarities Service Level or for coins submitted for unlimited value reholder service which will be renamed “Rarities Reholder.” There is no additional fee for the Rarities holder. Submissions at these service levels do not automatically receive the Rarities holder and will be placed into a standard PCGS holder unless otherwise requested."

    I like the holder for high-value coins, and your point about only the most valuable coins ending-up in them is correct. To me, the moment I see one of the holders I know that whatever coin is in it must be special.

    The oversized holder makes the Lib nickel look smaller than California Fractional.

    Reminds me of the huge key fob for the gas station bathroom.
