I too pay $25 to have a coin get a CAC Sticker through my dealer. Would $25 not be a reasonable price if you consider shipping and insurance costs especially when a package is worth several thousand? They claim they don't make money on it... Even if they did, they insure my coins for very fair market value and they take care of everything. SO is $25 really that bad? Given I am CACing $250+ coins.

How many coins are you submitting at a time and how expensive are the coins (range, mean, and mode)?
I usually submit one coin myself but in the package all together there's a lot more than just mine. Thousands of dollars worth maybe? They split the shipping costs so they say.... It's usually always a bulk, they never ship just a couple of coins out. I should ask them to break it down for me next time I'm there.

Does that sound like a fair price though? Honestly I wouldn't care if they made a little off of it. They are a great store and I've had much success with them.

It really depends on the coins submitted and value. If you submit 10 $250 coins, that's $250. $250 - (145.00 CAC fees) = $105 left to cover everything including shipping. The rest is profit. Draw your own conclusions.
As others have said, the photo in the first post looks like a dog, compared to the slab photo. Congratulations. I too will be sending my first submission in this fall.
Collectors only pay for coins that get the sticker; if you paid for them all with the usual 40% success rate plus shipping that really adds up. I don't know why they don't do flat priority mailers on lower value items, that would save a bundle.

The original post said NOTHING about a $25 learning experience. It simply asked whether the coin would sticker. Several of us pointed out, quite correctly, that there is no point in spending $25 to sticker a coin when it would add $5 to the value of the coin. That was GOOD advice, given the question.
If the question had been, "should I spend $25 tuition to experiment with CAC?", the responses would have been different.
All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.
On ebay the coin would probably sell for $125 or more after the sticker with more eager buyers. Before the sticker the coin would get the same hen pecking as some suggested here; relatively cheap learning experience, though there are plenty of helpful submitters around who would have been willing to send it off with one of their orders and save on shipping.

They will if you use private insurance.
