Beware in Hawaii

It's against the law to place coins in your ears.
Though no one is really sure why. image

(By the way anyone interested in seeing the being filmed above stunt scene, to include detective Steve McGarrett's stunt double as pictured above, tune into this, the Seventh Season's premiere show on September 23, 2016)

(For anyone who can't wait until September to see the final take then scroll down to the third post in the link below which includes a link to two action video clips showing portions of the "Rooftop Chase Scene" subject of my above photos.)

That's why I live in California.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Do they allow ears on coins?

If not, the Wisconsin state quarter is in trouble. image

Perhaps, but isn't putting coins in your ears known to cause cancer in California?

    More Hawaii Five-0

The final episode of Season Seven airs this week. Production should ramp up again in July with Season Eight now officially scheduled to begin showing in September.

Will we finally get to see a coin related show to match "The Hundred Thousand Dollar Nickel" episode from the original Hawaii Five-0 Series?

Can anyone find the actual Hawaii State statute about this "law"?

It appears to be an "urban legend" passed from one website to another with explanations about "drug dealing" and "old silver coins".

    I found it!

It's not a law, it's from an old television program, one that is well known here.

It is from "Hawaii Five-O" episode "The $100,000 Nickel", first broadcast on December 11, 1973.

In the last scene, Detective Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) "pulls" a coin from the ear of villain Eric Damien (Victor Buono).
