Motion GIF - Is this one too fast? (1 Second rotation)

I posted a Dan Carr 2013 Centennial Indian Head Nickel Commemorative a earlier this year in Motion GIF format and I received some constructive criticism about being too fast. I was playing with the program and wanted to see if the forum members thought about the speed of this GIF, 1 second per image rotation. I think that we all could get a different prospective of a coin by see it at different lighting angles though a motion GIF.

I would also agree on if you want details, post separate images.
Here is a 0.5 second rotation;

Why not use a video?
I am using the tools that I have readily available (images and GIF maker accessibility).

I like the .5 second images. That said, not a real fan of these but maybe it would grow on me.
the coin needs to be absolutely still and never change position relative to the background / crop as the pics cycle. E.G., put your mouse pointer on a star point below the E. Watch it walk around.
i think if you had 8 different images instead of 4 the speed would be less of an issue.
+1
That's the first thing that came to mind when I seen the gif. I think the more pictures, the better.

I think that it looks pretty darn good for the set-up! The images taken were not intended for the GIF, that is my doing.

OK. Sorry I mentioned it. Carry on.
It also gives an interesting perspective of the marks and imperfections.
Since the coin is static in the 5 frames and the light is changing, it is possible to view a small area or a single mark and see how it changes from frame to frame. Some marks change or disappear altogether, while others stay more constant. It gives a unique perspective and shows that any of the single 5 photos, while they may be easier to look at are also slightly misleading.
I would go faster than 1-second per frame since the idea of the GIF is more likely to be the ability to show luster or the change in toning rather than to illustrate exquisite detail.
This is the correct answer

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
It depends on what the goals are. I view the GIFs as useful for showing luster and in addition to using still photos needed for showing detail. GIF is smaller than video as I recall and easier to post on a message board.
I like the ones you have just as they are, and prefer the faster speed. Compared to one still photo, it gives a better idea of how the coin looks in person, which is the goal in my view.
More pictures are better for showing luster flow. I found 12 to 18 to work the best. The first one below done as a test and is made up of 15 photos. It was a while ago and I don't recall how it was done, except it was using the free GIMP photo program. I will have to relearn what I did and recall there was room for improvement. It's a lot more work than a still pic but worth it for some coins.
The 2nd one with the Barber Quarter was done with a more primitive camera and uneven cropping.
Also they can be shut off by hitting escape for those that don't like them.

This is 6 images looping back and forth at 100 msec per frame (10 fps), holding for an additional 100 msec for the starting and ending frame. Luster is easy to see, detail needs a static image.
now, that is cool!
the only thing that could make it better would be a pause and a slider that would allow me to slide between images, something like epcjimi1 mentions. of course, i could do that with a GIF editor or preview on mac

That is a very nice presentation!

This looks best to me of the examples shown
I like this one better.
